Yep
Thankfully it appears Republicans are beginning to act.

explain your thought process on this. i dont see how it could get worse after this decision. this is one step to getting better long term. the long term fix isnt from fixing racial gerrymandering alone. its fixing the issue of allowing states like cali to draw districts with inflated populations that are counting non-citizens in their voting population. the long term fix is a voter ID and illegal immigration problem.

Memaw should. The districts that run from Mobile to the Georgia State line are idiotic.

I do think eventually this issue will get enough bipartisan support to see real change, but we could easily be talking a decade + (or even way longer).
You are way more hopeful than me on this. I don't see any action being taken by either side to lessen gerrymandering issues. I'll get shite for saying both sides do it, but they do, and it's horrible for our democracy. Red states do it to benefit reds. Blue states do it to benefit blues.
How any sane person can look at congressional maps and go, "yeah, that makes sense" is beyond me.

This is inevitable and unavoidable. Eventually, this won't end well.....
The long term fix will involve violence.
The type of person that is a Marxist Democrat is abnormal and without a moral compass. They believe truth and morals are objective. There's a reason the ideology of the Dems attract them.

Cali 52-0, even after the new maps they just voted on. Another +5.

sure you are "concerned" about those things happening

This is probably why you are seeing this increasing push for that national popular vote nonsense.

mwade from Wash DC is suddenly calling out gerrymandering... because this year the idiotic Republicans fully joined in.

What?
I'm going to need more detail on how/why/when you see this playing out that way.

I'm all in. Let's get S.C., Florida, Maryland, North Dakota and Indiana on board.

Nah man this ALL sucks. Every single thing doesn’t have to be a partisan issue.
This is a race to the bottom (every state gerryed to the tits) which is ultimately bad news for everyone and what nobody had in mind.

Another risk is that we treat voters with a greater sense of equality without regard to race. Wouldn’t that be a good thing?

That may be somewhat true, but Republicans have to scrap this idea of playing honest and by the rules.

The GOP will find a way to:
1. Give the Dems a majority despite the “gains”, or
2. Sustain a majority so small that RINOs block everything significant, just like the current situation.
Both parties hate success. Dems spit on successes because to them, each success should have been 100x bigger, and they immediately try to turn it into that. The GOP refuses to accept any success at all. They voluntarily give it away.
