A phallic shaped boat full of seamen is gender neutral. Interesting

The life rafts are being designed to be vagina shaped.

Hard to imagine how they were able to redesign for added privacy

Obviously, they sacrificed some other war-winning capacity to provide more pee-space for a couple of ladies. And they probably had to install tampon dispensers unless they are using nothing but pregnant women on short cruises.

So the Air Force had the tail hook scandal, what will the Navy call this in a few years? Equality? This can’t end well

Yeah, the one person in this thread who is actively serving in the Navy and who has deployed with females on submarines should sit this one out. Since you know what I meant, maybe you should ignore the semantics and actually engage my argument.

Thank you. Lots of Neanderthal thinking in this thread. My DD is a 3C at USNA thinking about commissioning subs. Sub officers are among the most intelligent and resourceful in the Navy. Great to hear the new Virginia’s are built for male and female crew.

My little sister was in college with a female engineer who worked as a nuclear engineer on a submarine in the early 1990s.

Maybe the engineers are a different group, but she spent several years working on subs in the Navy.

Which submarines, and when?

Which begs the question of why a gender-neutral submarine is now suddenly needed.

If it is anything like surface ships, they will need an OBGYN on call for prenatal visits.

The story says because they aren't strong enough to get into regular bunks.

Access to top bunks and overhead valves were also designed with the height, reach and strength of women in mind.

Why shouldn't we try to make our successful tools more efficient and useful?

It's not. We took pride in what we did and submarine crews were always better than the surface fleet bc we didn't deal with all the drama and bullshite that comes with co-ed crews. Women make the military weak.

Like when female sailors get pregnant right before deployment so they don't have to go? That surely makes the crew more efficient.

Sooooooo. 100 young men and a few women will spend, possibly months, on patrol in a very tight and confined space of a submarine carrying nuclear weapons.

What can go wrong?
