My fellow Catholics: Do we believe Protestants are going to Hell?
There’s this thing called the Catechism that answers that question.
quote:
1260 "Since Christ died for all, and since all men are in fact called to one and the same destiny, which is divine, we must hold that the Holy Spirit offers to all the possibility of being made partakers, in a way known to God, of the Paschal mystery." Every man who is ignorant of the Gospel of Christ and of his Church, but seeks the truth and does the will of God in accordance with his understanding of it, can be saved. It may be supposed that such persons would have desired Baptism explicitly if they had known its necessity.

Thief on Calvary went to Abraham’s bosom as he died before Jesus descended into hell and released all the righteous dead to Heaven

Not all, but purgatory will be rough.
I have no idea what is taught now. But I was an Ole School Catholic and Purgatory was a great way to instill ethics in children. You want to do something wrong...you KNOW you can get away with it. BUT you're gonna spend 10 years in Purgatory for it when you die, prior to going to Heaven. It stuck with us into adulthood because being guilt free made us feel better. Ethics is very valuable today because it is rare.

My grandfathers were ministers, my uncles were ministers, my father was a minister, and simply fire and brimstone evgelical church
And I agree with you
And I think that being purgatory long enough for us to have a good run up in heaven, like the Old South
WE are the Chosen ones..the last Godly Tribe It's just us and the jews

John the Baptist called them brood of vipers, not Jesus. But the point still stands.

Guess Jesus lied to the thief on the cross then.
Salvation by grace through faith alone is the only requirement that doesn't make the Bible contradictory. Works are to bring glory to God, not salvation to the lost.

Is Purgatory in Scripture?
Asking for a friend who actually reads the Bible instead of just performing rituals.

I believe in not thinking about anyone else’s final judgement, damnation, etc. I’ll pray for me, them, and everyone. I’ll leave that stuff to God. I have enough trouble doing the right things daily.

They all deserve hell, just like everyone else. God is the judge. If you want to know who gets in and who doesn't you will have to wait to find out.

Anyone who thinks you have to be catholic or protestant or any specific denomination to go to heaven is a moron and probably won't end up there themselves

I thought I’d already read the dumbest things possible on this board. I was dead wrong.

this thread is misguided and wrong headed.
It doesn't matter what we personally believe. We are called upon as Catholics to be in the "Sales" side of the business, not on the "Management" side of the business.
Leave the "Management" to God. Ask ANY Catholic Priest and they will tell you that they are in Sales, not in Management. A Catholic Priest would never tell you that a good Christian Protestant is going to Hell.
If you are a Catholic, you are in the "Sales" side of the business. Tell your "Customers" about the merit and value of your "product". Don't think about other "products" out there, just focus on your "product" and sell that.
Many religions feel the need to disparage other religions because they think it helps their own religion. Catholic leadership abandoned that kind of thinking decades ago.

You seem pretty misinformed.

What is now called the “Catholic Church” since 180 AD was established by Jesus was called “The Way” by His disciples. The sole purpose is to save souls. Because God’s mercy is endless it’s not the only way to save souls. Just aTraditional way. A Traditional way in terms of the sacraments that help the faithful say yes to God.

Tell us you have not read the Bible, without telling us you have not read the Bible.
Mathew 18:6 is going to be a hard thing for many Catholics.
quote:
But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.
The religion of pedophiles is going to have a tough go, and most of the practicing Catholics are guilty. You all looked away instead of demanding change. God knows your souls and many of you will burn.

To the OP:
Christ laid out the road to salvation pretty clearly, and it’s not based on works. The works may come along after someone receives salvation.
The Catholic Church didn’t exist during Christ's time on earth, so anything Christ directed regarding salvation could not include requirements of adhering to Catholicism.
There are plenty of facets of Catholicism that aren’t scriptural.

Nothing unclean can enter heaven is scriptural.
