Mom arrested in rural GA because her near 11 year old son was found walking alone

If you are an 80s latch key generation kid, our parents are felons as repeat offenders
This is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen. I hope she sues the shite out of them. County officials are doubling down now saying that they'd drop charges if she agreed to put a GPS tracker app on her kids phone as part of the "safety plan" recommended by social services (according to Fox this AM)
Wonder how many 10 year olds are home alone right now in a scummy apartment making breakfast for their younger brothers and sisters in Atlanta?
But, let's arrest a responsible mom from a good family situation in a small town in front of her children.

I mean, I don’t think that’s very good parenting tbh. It’s not the 80s anymore and I wouldn’t dare let my child walk alone, in town at night.

The enemy is the state. Any expansion of power only helps people with bad intentions

Agreed, it's not the 80s anymore.
Have you compared today's crime rates vs the 80's by any chance?

Agreed. It’s much safer now and there are cameras everywhere.

Very easy on the eyes. They probably had very nefarious reasons for bringing her in!!

Those poor kids. Probably were a prisoner in your basement.

She didn't "Let him".
She was at a Dr appointment with her younger child.
Her 10 year old son didn't want to go to the appointment so he stayed home.
The kid decided on his own to walk to town.
So she was arrested for her kid walking to town on his own.
But hey, "Back duh Blue"

Again?
You think she would have learned the first time.

Where did the child walk alone at night
Why don't you read the article.
He stayed home while mom and brother went to doctors appointment and chose to walk less than half a mile to the store. Its a town of 500 people, not exactly inner city chicago.
Helicopter parenting/mommy state is out of control

It was no more safe, just less reported.
They own a 16 acre property with the granddad living in the home. She couldn't find the boy when she left to take another kid to a Dr appt. She assumed he was doing what he always does, running around and playing in the woods. The actual charge was for leaving while knowing a child was missing.
The child decided to walk less than a mile to the Metropolitan area of Bum frick GA with a population of 370 to go to the dollar general.
Yes, things happen. But the kid was days away from being 11 y/o. At some point, you can keep perpetuating a helicopter parent product for society or let them grow and become more independent.

If you find the idea of letting a 6th grade kid go off from home illegal, you are a major part of the problem.

I saw this story a few weeks ago. It makes no sense to me but the average comment was fantasy, like, "A bus could have dropped on him, from the sky!" and kidnappers, snakes, wild dogs, and all kinds of mythical creatues would surely get the boy.
Some Karen called the cops and got all of this rolling. If Karen was found beaten to death would the gubmint pull out of this lady?

Why do you think people who held those views through the BLM riots would support the police *no matter what they did*?

My mom would have been under the jail.
