There are more alternatives than just raising the retirement age. Any real fix should included multiple elements:
1. raise retirement age
2. Increase the cap on taxable income. I believe it is about $184k now.
3. COLA - cap this do that it can never be above 2%.
4. Require over payments to be paid back in one year. Right now, overpayments can be paid back at 10% per month, sometimes taking 5-10 years to pay back. Overpayment occur when somebody takes early retirement benefits at the age of 62 for a reduced monthly benefits payout, yet it still working.
5. Means testing (this won't be popular here). As an example, somebody with, say 3 million in cash assets had their monthly benefit reduced at a much higher percentage than someone else.

The only people that think this are either brainwashed or have a head too small to hold more than two binary simpleton thoughts,…..which is it with you?

Eliminating the cap could generate 400-450billion a year which closes 70% of the gap. As someone who has a household where both salaries are over 184500, it would suck but I think it is the only solution.

It has to happen. Simple as that.
Agreed.
Its not sustainable.
Rid the National Debt, and no income tax. The National Debt is our biggest crisis. SS is a drain on it...

What pisses me off is they won’t spend an ounce of energy putting systems in place to make sure that everyone receiving federal benefits are eligible and not ripping us off. They also won’t do anything budget wise to restrict spending or eliminate fraud and waste in Federal spending.
Do that before you start peeling back benefits.
Do that before you start peeling back benefits.

All of the trolls and fu's to everyone is nice and all but if you can't execute, that makes you even more inept than Democrats. I think our country is just DONE.
