We need to put the money back in the fund and make it untouchable.
Al Gore ran on this as his top priority. There was a budget surplus and Gore wanted it to be used to repay what they had taken out of Social Security and make it untouchable. He referred to it as a “lock box.”
Republicans ran on taking the money and doing tax cuts for the wealthy.
G W Bush won, and we went deep into deficit spending, that has continued to this day.

He’s also as gay as Scott Bessent and everybody can see it.

Masculinity and femininity are hugely important factors in electing Democrats, there are certainly no openly gay or transgender representatives!!

I wish they'd stop taking that out of my paycheck and let me invest it myself.

Screw that, cut defense spending, cut welfare spending, cut every department before you start on SS, why because they have wasted money on everything you can think of. So know, I use to be raise the age but after seeing how much these R's and D's hate just normal americans, screw that, don't raise my age start cutting some shet.

Trump wants to increase defense spending by 500 billion a year
Good luck with that idea
We need to drastically decrease defense spending

We need to drastically decrease defense spending

We need to find a way to fund it
Or how about we get the government out of retirement and let individuals do it themselves?

This. Give me all the money back they have stolen from me for a fund that won't be around when I retire so I can invest it myself and triple it.
Agree. It's a fricking Ponzi scheme. Force hard working Americans to pay into it for decades, then, when it comes time for them to collect, try to screw them out of the money they're owed. I don't care what they do with the system, but the fricking Federal Government sure as hell better refund me every last penny I put in since I was 16 years old.

End income taxes and let people do what they want with the extra.

I’m not opposed to defense cutting per se, but it’s simply not a major budget buster at this point. In fact, as a percentage pf gdp, it is at near historic lows
quote:
defense spending has in fact declined from half of all federal spending in 1962 to just 13 percent this year. Since the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, inflation-adjusted defense spending has expanded by only $166 billion—compared to entitlement program spending leaping by $2.6 trillion (after inflation). As a share of the economy, defense spending has been halved since the 1980s, falling from 6 to 3 percent of GDP. Moreover, the Congressional Budget Office projects defense spending will fall below 2.5 percent within three decades—the lowest share of the GDP since the 1930s. At that point, defense would consume just 9 percent of federal spending.
