May end up in HR for my election comment at work today

I’m working from our headquarters this week and was in the break area getting a coffee when I woman I’ve known for a couple years and always talk to when I’m in office what I thought about the election last night.
I told her I wasn’t very happy because I’m pretty hardcore on immigration and without a border you don’t have a country. I knew she had kids so I had to say that the next time an illegal murders or rapes a US citizen, I hope the parents were one of the ones who voted for open borders and not the family of the people voting for secured borders.
She turned and just walked away. I may be on the government nipple myself in the next couple days. But hey, she started the conversation by asking me my my thoughts on the election. That may be my get out of jail free card.

If you get fired for that ask them if you would have been fired for saying you were ecstatic over the DSA victory but we somehow have to find a way to 8647 if you know what I mean?

I was raised to complement ladies on their appearance. “Your hair has changed. It looks lovely”. “Thats a beautiful dress” etc etc. i don't even do THAT anymore. All conversation is business only. If a woman starts asking about personal stuff, I just gently deflect. Post Weinstein, its very unwise to reveal Any personal opinions, especially to a woman.
In a former career, the guys I worked with were close friends. We talked casually and honestly the way close friends speak. That era is over, especially at bigger companies. Work is work is work. Period. Keep your mouth shut and your head down.
