LOL what? Paxton is the one with skeletons in his closest. Cornyn hasn't been as effective as many of us would like but how can you knock his character let alone call him an "absolute piece of shite"?

This is the new repeated talking point only because MAGA likes what Marco has done.

Don't worry, SFPLC. You will still be able to vote for AOC.

Was expected by many. The crossover appeal is stronger than people think. There’s only one DJT no one will inherit his minions and win. The candidate needs to bring way more that that to the table. Rubio brings more.

Post-Trump, I hope we return to this and regain some decorum in our leadership.

Do you still not have a clue regarding everything the corrupt political system has done to try to destroy thos man?

Let them lie about YOU regarding the false narrative of Trump/Russia collusion. Let them try to impeach YOU twice, or steal an election, or conduct an FBI raid on YOUR home, or bring multiple bogus indictments against YOU in multiple states.

And then come talk to me about decorum.

PS - If the next President is also an outsider they will treat him the same way.

I will vote for Vance over Rubio, provided both run.

Even if you believe it, none of this started today. None of it was happening back when Trump was running around turning the GOP primaries into a reality-TV spectacle, calling everyone names and dodging basic policy questions.

Simple questions would get asked, and he’d spend the entire answer attacking people instead of explaining anything. That’s where this whole dynamic came from. So don’t try to play the victim now. You can’t cheer on the trolling for years and then pretend he bears no responsibility for the culture it created.

Even with video evidence, you guys will twist yourselves into knots defending things that are flat-out indefensible.

At some point, we need to return to basic decorum.

I like both but think that Rubio is in his prime and can unite the base more effectively. I hope Vance can find a spot he's happy with for 8 years and follow Rubio as POTUS.

I wouldn’t mind Rubio now. He’s older and has more experience than he did when he ran before.

Him being the first Latin/cuban/whatever president would be a nice touch for republicans.

However, I still don’t like voting for a career politician. For this reason alone, I’d rather Vance.

If Chris Christie had the ability to embarrass Rubio on a debate stage last time, I can’t imagine what Vance would do to him.

There's going to be a real wake up call for a lot of politicians who abandoned themselves over the last 10 years to try to ride Trump's coattails. The brashness works for Trump because that is his authentic self, but when these politicians try to switch up who they are it comes off fake and/or campy. There are a lot of cringy ads these days from people trying to copy essentially the trolling Trump does and it just doesn't work.

What makes Vance and Rubio both so strong is their natural personality has broad appeal.

Vance can go on Joe Rogan and get more in the details on policy issues or Theo Von and talk like a normal dude. He can relate to the baw who is turning wrenches without coming off fake, but can get into the policy discussions with white collar folks and present coherent policy.

Rubio on the other hand maybe doesn't relate as well to blue collar folks, but he brings a sense of decorum and poise that will lap up the middle of the road voters. I know people use it against him, but his confirmation being unanimous negates any "ism" allegation thrown at him by the DNC, they are all on record confirming him.

On the other hand someone like DeSantis, who I really like, is a terrible general election candidate because he doesn't relate to the blue collar base Trump has built and is way too douchey to get the middle of the road voter. Just on executive experience and accomplishments he should be the #1 contender for the 2028 nomination, but the appeal is just not there.

ETA: All that to say, the DNC bench is empty. Their best candidate is probably Shapiro but they aren't electing a straight, Jewish, male to be their candidate. Stephen A. Smith might actually be their second best choice, which says a ton.

10 years of MAGA for only Rubio or Vance (who didn’t even vote for trump in 16) to be the successors. Absolute failure.
