This is North Korean style Propaganda about balancing a budget.

He owed mom $20 and he got dad to give him $30 with 80% interest.

Thus is retarded. Do you know how big the NYC budget is?

Considering how much the city contributes to the state without getting much back it should have been more.

Given a $12 billion deficit, immediately given $8 billion by the state.

However, a $4 billion dollar deficit ain’t nothing. He appears to have balanced a lot of recurring expenses with one time funds, so it could be smoke and mirrors a la Bobby Jindal.

You do realize that 8 billion of the 12 billion comes from State support from the state government of New York, don't you?

$1.77 Billion Agency Efficiencies: Leveraged new "Chief Savings Officers" across city agencies to slash waste and manage overtime, which included trimming $100 million in non-salary expenses from the Department of Education.

Vacancy Freezes: Realised immediate structural savings by freezing unfilled city employment positions.

Class-Size Mandate Delay: Negotiated a two-year extension with state lawmakers to delay a strict public school class-size reduction mandate, avoiding $500 million in immediate costs for hiring new teachers.
i’m sure these actions will please his teachers’ and civil service union supporters

Targeted Local Fee Hikes: Increased local service rates to generate revenue, including an extra $24.6 million from higher ambulance fees, $10 million by charging for EMS on-scene treatment without transport, $15 million via expanded bus-lane camera ticketing, and $2.3 million from surging handgun license requests.

Correct, the good people of Long Island, Rochester, Buffalo, Hempstead, Brookhaven and everywhere else OUTSIDE of New York City (plus the good citizens of NYC) all paid for that cash injection by the governor.

It’s actually billions, not just millions. And deferring $850 million in debts owed by the pension funds until 2040.

I’m trying to understand this part. Is he deferring one years payment until 2040 or all payments until 2040?

Also, what will be the payment when due? There’s no way it doesn’t have tremendous interest attached.

Seems like a really bad idea to mess with pension money. Whether you agree with the system or not, the people collecting the pensions earned the money, are entitled to it and most likely would become destitute without it.

David Duke had people “talking” when he ran for president. Just admit you are really stupid and you think he has good ideas instead of pretending he has accomplished anything

I know nbody cares about facts but that's not even close to true.

NYC contributes about $69b to Albany and NYC receives about $48b back. It wasn't a bailout, it was a rebalancing.

Over the last decade NYCs contributions have increased substantially whereas what they've gotten back has not, until very recently.

Eric Adams said there was never a $12 Billion budget deficit

quote:

There was never a $12 billion hole in the budget. That fairy tale was cooked up to justify reckless spending and political theater.

I left the incoming administration with $8 billion in reserves, not a financial apocalypse.

Albany election-year bailouts are not a long-term economic strategy. The free money dries up after Election Day, but the bloated “free” programs stay forever.

And here’s the part the socialists in City Hall never want to admit: the millionaires and billionaires they love demonizing already pay roughly 40% of NYC’s taxes. Keep demonizing the people creating jobs, investing in this city, and carrying the tax base, and eventually they’ll stop investing here altogether.

Facts are stubborn things. Even when some politicians aren’t.
