"Get people from the state at large to subsidize one specific city" is not a solution.
Can you imagine living in rural new york and having to pay extra so the largest shithole city can implement communist policies?

Personally, I don’t like Mamdani, and I think he could be bad news for the city, but I’m not going to cry about the city getting back more of the money that its paid the state.

Well said, and I pretty much agree. I'm not a NYer so I don't really care about anything this granular, but it's naive to think what happens there (good or bad) couldn't potentially impact future politics in other places.

1. Didn't Kathy Hochul lend @ $8B in assistance?
2. Mandami pulled old budget acuels se aside totaling @ $1B
3. Mandami restructured pensions and debt payments over a longer period.
