I’m 50 and have a bad heart. I’ve done it, and believe I could do it again, but maybe wishful thinking. Let me bring my meds and a couple other survival essentials and it will be the flip
of a coin. I’m game. I’ll outlast most soyboy punks.

There is plenty of data available on surviving without food and water due to studies of people who engaged in hunger strikes. There is not set number but,

A average person can survive,

Without food 1-2 months if water is available.

Without food or water 10-14 days.

People on hunger strikes usually have shelter. Depending on the season, the location, etc that would be a huge factor in survival.

Most people could not survive 2 weeks in even a moderately cold region if not properly dressed and/or equipped with or to build a shelter that keeps them dry and reasonably warm.

Same here. I’ve been backpacking and climbing in North America’s backcountry for more than 45 years .... and I still log more than 600 miles annually ..... which is less than half what I was logging into my early fifties. Back then I’d buy two pair of boots at the beginning of each season.

The new gear today is ultralight and makes a huge difference. My pack weight for a 2 week trip was in excess of 55 lbs in the eighties, .... now it’s less than 32 lbs, and has extended the career of this old trailhound.

Admittedly I’m a three-season backpacker now, ... so I don’t suffer the below-20 degree trips like I was able to when I was younger .... but I still love it and I have zero doubt I could last a month or much longer if I was pissed-off enough to commit to do so ....

I think you could be projecting here. Two weeks is incredibly do-able for people with little to no survival training.

Can you say one thing that isn’t stupid?

We need starvation times. If you can’t start a fire with flint and steel, you better have tits of gold, an arse that won’t quit and birthin’ hips. People today are so disgustingly weak.

Joe Biden dicks down a child and survives a week in the wilderness.

It all depends on what supplies you have. I've spent a couple of nights out in the Louisiana marsh on the barrier islands and I could not do it without a tent. A tent is more important than a gun or fishing pole. I could manage to catch protein without a gun or fishing pole but I couldn't last a single night in the Louisiana marsh without a tent. The mosquitoes will eat you alive and if the mosquitoes are not biting the gnats are.

Many would die in a week from exposure.

Pretty sure less than 1% join the military, so I doubt it's even close in all actuality

A fair chuck, if not a majority, could probably still be alive in two weeks if they could figure out a water situation that didn’t kill them, but they wouldn’t be thriving.

Exactly. People here are underestimating how long humans can go with no food and very little water. It would be miserable as frick but I wouldn’t doubt if a majority of people could survive for 2 weeks. They would probably be pretty close to death but 2 weeks isn’t that long to stick it out. Key word survive as you said and not thrive. I feel like most posters are basing this on thriving and not surviving though.

A big part of the challenge is mental. You are a foolish troll if you think that it would be incredibly doable with the entitled seflie taking douche bags wandering our planet. They lack the heart.

As Anthony Hopkins said in a movie about similar circumstances: They would die of shame.

Survive doesn't equal thrive.

To survive for two weeks all you need to do is secure a somewhat clean water source.

You can be without fire and food, ate up with poison ivy, and still live two weeks if you stay hydrated enough.

It would be a shitty two weeks, but our bodies are fairly resilient.
