Adding another $700B to annual spending

LOL, the Somali scammers have stolen more than that. Defense spending isn’t the problem, and it’s one of those rare areas that is a proper function of government.

I agree with you on the “everyone need skin in the game… but we cannot tax our way out of this. We have a spending problem, not a revenue problem.

I know. I laughed at that. I do think this might have been the Hail Mary play at one point:
quote:

The exception is Mr. Trump, a businessman-outsider to government trying to pull off an escape from the deadly debt quandary. It’s probably impossible, but he is trying nonetheless. It has three main features: 1) to readjust trade relations that, in theory, would restore industrial production across the land — a bootstrapping operation to kick off “growth.” 2) to engineer a severe re-set of the money system that would effectively amount to defaulting on debt but somehow without the feature of disappearing money. At best, this would induce some kind of fall in living standards, but mostly among the small sector of financial buccaneers who thrive on swindles and the Boomers living on investment accounts (figment wealth), who are now dying off anyway — which is to say, Great Depression Lite. And 3) the least understood feature of Trumpism: to decouple the USA from the resource scarcity in the rest of the world, and the consequent strife it’s inducing, and withdraw into a sort of Fortress North America that can somehow carry-on self-sufficiently while everybody else collapses.

Trump's Parlous Gambit.

But, we are now on to asking for $1.5 trillion defense budgets and war with Iran. Business as usual.

Remember when tariffs were going to cause some sort of debt reset that was going pay off the debt and free us of income taxes completely. Good times man… good times.

Kinda amazing how everyone was all in for DJT for the last ten years, especially in light of the insanely unfair stuff his opponents did to him, and things get a little rough in their eyes and now he's the bad guy. Not talking to everyone here, but it's like where's your patience all the sudden? I don't have to tell you how nice it is to have an America first president, like you guys know this. I can't think of a better guy to have in the oval on your side right now.

Why are you limiting it to the discretionary part? Can you name the most common job in NYC? It’s “home health care workers.” It’s a massive scam and it’s happening all over the country. We are being systematically looted. Don’t come talking to me about defense spending when this kind of thing is allowed to go on.

Ok. So you want go with half of the medicare budget was fraudulently taken by Somalis in MN? Ok. Have at it.

Are you going to tell us next that the DoD spending is fraud free?

Obviously fraud is a problem, but one has to keep some sense of scale when it comes to what we actually spend money on. And honestly, the easiest way to stop fraud is… you know.. spend less.

At this point in the game, the debt is what it is.

We’re never coming back from it. It’s all made up anyway.

Would he be the bad guy if he had just done what he said he would do?

Nope, so it’s on him. Rule 1: don’t be a liar.

I didn’t say money printing was the path to wealth.

I said inflation was part of the way we have to deal with the debt.
