Don't tell me you're an advocate for the illegals! The kind of idiot who thinks we should let 'em all stay cause they do the work no one wants. Are you one of those idiots?

Oh there’s a WANT. But we have to pay for illegals and SNAP and Somalis in Minnesota and Muslims in Michigan.
I was quoted 125k to construct a bedroom on our existing patio and a master bath remodel. I bought my first house at age 21 for $48k.

Not quite.
Im referencing the fact we look at economic indicators and pretend 20 million illegals dont change the dynamics at all.
When home prices went up we blamed everything. Never thought, we build 2.5 million units a year and just flooded the market with 10 years worth of occupants. Then are surprised when they go home and prices drop.
We think there is a soft job market when we are replacing citizens with illegals who had ss# and were in the bls numbers.
We talk about America's soaring credit card debt and forget we got 20 million people who are charging shat they will never pay for cause they will just skedaddle across the border.
We lament medical costs rising and somehow think hospitals are gonna eat the cost of birthing millions of anchor babies.
Dems got just what they wanted. We will send home maybe 4 million and the 20 million have 10 million anchor babies at the same time. Slip sliding away.
America was a great country, unfortunately we could not keep it.

We didn’t send home millions of illegals. Not even close. Probably less than 5000.
There are plenty of illegals still hammering nails and picking our crops

Building materials haven't dropped enough. I'm remodeling a hall bathroom and when I'm finished with all the materials it's gonna be $8k for a hall bath. I'm doing the job myself so I'm probably saving $8k but it's the idea the building materials for a hall bathroom is $8K.
I put this prompt into Gemini about 20 minutes ago: I need a book case. I want it to resemble the built in look of the entertainment center in our living room.
Come up with a plan including materials and supplies with prices and stores to find them. I live in zip code.
I guess this is gonna cost $2k

I was waiting for some teenager to cut a board for me and got on TD while they figured out who was capable of doing it.

I'm in the lumber business and I can address this piece of misinformation.
I was looking to redo my deck. PreCovid, 2x6x12 PT was about $7.50 per board. It got up to around $17 per board. I finally redid the deck last year at about $12 per board.

And builders/developers cannot plan due to constantly shifting tariff policy

No one is building.
Can’t afford to remodel

Now, I get the picture...you ain't one of the idiots, you get it! The DemoRats are a cancer on this country and I hope some day Joe Biden rots in hell for the atrocities he rained upon us, with his open borders.

12 foot standard grade radius edge decking is $9.25 board at Home Depot right now.

Obviously, there are many factors that go into commodity pricing, but my immediate guess is due to lack of demand for new construction. More than happy for someone to correct me.
Yes, the housing market was oversaturated with illegal buyers.
It'll climb back up as the Dims welcome them back.

It's still considerably higher than pre Covid pricing which was about $335 per thousand board feet (wholesale) and currently about $450. So still almost 40% higher.
