Are we still live-streaming the 3 Gorges Dam?

We lost power on a cruise ship for an hour once. I doubt it was sabotaged. They just fixed it and the cruise continued. Fortunately, we were in the Gulf and there weren't any bridges around to hit.

I don’t and it’s still early but one of my best friends pilots ships like that all of the gulf and ports inland, and it has their attention as very possible frickery is involved.
Seems foolish to disregard even the possibility this early on.
It’s not like things are otherwise calm and peaceful here and in the world overall.

Should have had a harbor pilot to pilot the boat
Indeed ... as it appears they did.
Very sloppy reporting, unless LL has information indicating the CG is lying.

quote:

According to a Coast Guard memo obtained by ABC News, a harbor pilot and an assistant aboard the cargo ship reported the power issues that prompted multiple alarms on the bridge of the vessel and loss of propulsion. The pilots were operating the ship, not the ship's captain, according to Wiedefeld.

If someone were going to intentionally do this, it wouldn't be a shitty underused bridge in Baltimore in the middle of the night. Good lord.

I’m not in the sabotage camp but go on Google maps and look at what is now shutdown on the up river side of that bridge. The economic impact from this waterway being blocked will be massive.

I’m pretty open minded and will entertain conspiracy theories sometimes but this is not a conspiracy.

Your conspiracies will come with local contractors paying off politicians to win the bridge repair contract.

The waterway itself will be open within 2 or 3 weeks. Tops.

As far as economic impact goes, it probably couldn't have happened in a better place really. The cargo infrastructure in that area is incredible. Ships can easily be diverted to Norfolk/Hampton Roads or Philadelphia/Jersey City/Camden and transported on land. The only city that might face noticeable impact is Baltimore itself

This would've been a ton worse if this were happening in New Orleans

The ship apparently lost propulsion. Does a container ship have electric propulsion? I have seen both electric and engine driven propulsion on the ships I have been on, but those were Gulf service boats.

No, this was a diesel engine. They have failures sometimes and more so since they’ve switched to low sulfur fuel. The lack of oversight from regulatory authorities since Covid probably is a bigger issue.
