It is an ethno-religion. If a Jew takes a DNA test such as 23andME, it will come back with "Jewish". not German, not Russian, not Polish...

They are distinguishable from their country of origin due to thousands of years of insulated reproduction. Intermarriage was (and still is with Orthodox/Conservative) verboten until the middle of the 20th century. It is why Jews to this day put great pressure on their children not to "marry out" because they are trying to preserve their genetic line. Most rabbi's won't conduct an interfaith marriage. Even the most liberal of jews will whisper behind their hands that a convert isn't "really Jewish" recognizing that there is a genetic component to Judaism.

I don't know who came up with that idea, but whomever it is, they should pivot to drawing pictures of the prophet muhammed and see how that works out for them.

The claim that Ashkenazi Jews are simply European converts has been comprehensively disproven by modern genetics. They have a verifiable genetic connection to 1st-century Jews from the Levant

I'm a hobbyist, but have worked with genetic genealogy for 15 years helping adoptees to find their birth parents.

Ashkenazi Jews developed almost 1000 years after Jesus....in Europe.

They have frick all to do genetically with historical Jewish populations that existed at the time of Jesus.

U.S. Census Bureau define "White" as anyone having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa

Ashkenazi Jews might have fair skin, light hair, and blue eyes, and then move back to the Levant.
