He gave Fauci a Presidential Commendation on his last full day in office of his first term.

If Fauci is the devil incarnate as so many people think then surely they think this is a bad look for Trump.

Trump never shut anything down. It was the Governor of each state that made the decision of what to do. Biden and Harris are the ones that wanted to for vaccines on the country until the Supreme Court shut that shite down. Trump gave a choice if you wanted vaccine, you had that choice, but wasn’t ordered to do it. Dems said they would never do it if Trump forced it until the next administration tried.

POTUS expected he had various centers of medical expertise to draw on. Initially he leaned to the CDC. Then the CDC fell apart, following the most catastrophic scientific error in US history -- the contamination of 100% of US CV19 test kits on the eve of CV19 hitting the US.

It was such an inconceivably inexplicable turn of events that there is a likelihood it was deliberate. Regardless, the CDC was taken out of the "expertise" conversation. That conveniently left the NIH as the infamous 500# gorilla in the ... science classroom.

In April 2020, we did not know anything about COVID. It first hit the US in January that year. The first COVID death in the US was at the end of February. The COVID shutdown started in March. By April of 2020, Trump strongly pushed to restart businesses and ease lockdown rules. He claimed he had total authority to override governors and reopen the country. Governors and legal scholars stated the president could not legally force states to open. It was out of Trump's hands at that point.

A full year later, after COVID had been studied and we had a supposed vaccine, Biden relaxed masking rules. Two years later, we started travelling again.

Making decisions based on years of information that Biden had is not exactly the equivalent to Trump's position of making decisions about the early stages of a new virus spreading around the globe that you have no data on.

With hindsight, a lot would have been done very differently.

Once they discovered that the virus affected old people and fat people at similar rates to the flu, govern accordingly. But I understand he wanted to win in November. My main gripe here is people chest beating over the Fauci news as if Trump is on some war path to expose the same people he empowered. That is ridiculous.
