ignore 2 major points
Could we have gotten through shutdowns economically without promising the money? What happens during Covid if Trump gives out 0.00$?

Well it’d have been nice if that coin flip landed on the side of the american people for once.

DeSantis at the outset was all in for the restrictions even up to stopping northward travelers at the state border at one very early point. However, he did his homework in great depth and reversed course dramatically. That's why he didn't follow NY's Cuomo who killed thousands of elderly in nursing homes.

The early numbers were dire. And we didn’t know the mortality rate then. He did the right thing erring on the side of caution.
You can maybe argue later on he should have opened things up, but he still had to rely on the experts (which we now know may not have been telling him the full truth).

I think that’s a fair assessment though May 2020 or so. By that point red state governors were bucking the fed expert guidance and Trump was allegedly berating Fauci in private.

True, but the underlying theme of this thread is taking down the “deep state”, but then having to trust the “deep state” when “Patriots are in control”. Can’t have it both ways and Fauci isn’t “going down”.

I agree but you also need to add that he was berating republican governors in public about opening up sooner than the fed guidelines suggested.
There’s the vein running through this that trump was duped in the first few weeks but then wised up and led the charge for opening up. The reality is that he shite on florida and georgia for not following his guidelines.

I’ve gotten two PMs for not taking the Q stuff seriously enough so I have to stop commenting on it :(

I still think some of this is hindsight bias.
If he reverses course and opens up and all hell breaks loose, he’s getting impeached. Especially when most conventional scientists were still erring on the side of caution and the vaccines were not done yet.
I think Trump gets a bad rap from many on the right for his handling of it. He was put in an unwinnable position.

That is a fair take.
I upvoted it. I never thought I would upvote you.

Funny thing about that is Trump was posting Q stuff a couple of days ago and I wanted to add it to the thread, but it's locked. Credit to the mods for not feeding the insanity.

Getting impeached for what? What is the charge?

I say outlandish shite and it’s “trolling”. Ailsa does it and it’s a four-page thread. It’s the damndest thing

Dereliction of duty. Gross mismanagement. Whatever they want to make it, really.
You don’t need a formal criminal charge but that’s for another thread.

maybe. He'd just easily gotten past an impeachment 6 weeks prior to lockdown. He had an election in 8 months and it's just as likely he made choices based on the electoral optics of neglecting public health recommendations during a global pandemic.

WTF?
They can make up a charge in 5 minutes and
manufacture fake evidence in 10 minutes
We have watched them do it for 10 years
The media will dutifully report it

Hey nc tiger. I’m guessing nc stands for North Carolina. How did Bidens fema work for you in North Carolina when disaster was declared because of the hurricane that hit your state and impacted thousands of people and Biden a fema was told not to help in areas where there may be Trump voters. Don’t u remember this bullshite from your Mickey Mouse bullshite of an administration. You are a piece of SHT

Your hate is so prevalent it obscures everything else you spew. Just remember we have 2 more years OF POTUS Donald Trump running the country. All to the good to the extent that anything he says that pisses off you libs is good in & of itself.

I disagree that this is a legitimate or real threat. He had already been impeached twice. A hat trick doesn’t really move the needle for me. Either way, the dems sure as hell shite on him for his handling of covid anyway. You’d think they’d have impeached him for dereliction of duty or gross mismanagement they way they talked about how horrible the admin’s handling of it was.
But that’s really neither here nor there when it comes to people weirdly claiming he was leading the fight to reopen. He wasn’t as late as the dems, but several republicans (and his core base who he needed energized for that year’s election) beat him to the punch. And he publicly chastised those republicans for it.
Republicans at the capitol building were fighting for Louisiana to reopen at the same time trump was hosting and praising JBE for doing a “tremendous” job handling covid in Louisiana.

He also took it quite seriously personally (got quickly vaccinated, continues to get regular boosters, which makes sense in the context of him calling himself a "germophobe" from way back), so I don't think he ever really bought into the "hoax" narrative. It would've been his 2nd impeachment, btw.
