And neither the Belgian charterer nor the Greek owner will budge a freaking inch and the Russians... They will probably claim the vessel as salvage and cut it up for scrap after they get it re-floated.

It definitely can be repaired to like new. Semi Submersible Mighty Servant 3 sank in 200 feet off water off of Angola when a valve for its center ballast tank failed. It was lifted to the surface and went to a shipyard in Bermuda to be completely repaired. Refrigerated LPG carriers are expensive. The cargo tanks are not built for much pressure, it is the constant chilling of the cargo which keeps it in liquid state. There is an onboard industrial chiller compressor which does this. Unlike an LNG carrier which uses the boiled off natural gas as additional fuel in the engines.

As far as Greek shipowners go, they will do anything for a buck

Russia has less territory under control than it did at the end of March in 2022.
I don't follow the territorial gains and losses very closely but your statement sounds almost impossible to be true.

How can it be?

PS- Is it true because in February and March, 2022 the Russians had "taken" a considerable slice of territory from Belarus south to just north of Kiev and then lost it all when their tanks ran out of gas?

(I remember a short video taken a few days after the invasion began of a Russian tank crew standing on the side of the road next to their out-of-gas tank and a Russian-speaking Ukrainian drove by and asked the group if they needed a tow back to Russia.. )

PS-Here is a link to that video. LINK

You can read the comments below the video for what was said, assuming you don't speak Russian and can't understand the conversation between the driver of the car and the tank crew. You can hear the Russians laughing at about the 7 seconds mark after the driver of the car says, "Do you need a tow back to Russia?"

The Ukranian continues and asks: "Where are you headed? Do you know?" to which the Russians say they do not.

"You're heading to Kyiv. No one knows where they are or where they're going," the driver says, before adding: "So far our side is doing better, your guys surrender well."

In the early weeks of the invasion, Russia made major penetrations across the north, east and south of Ukraine. This map shows the highpoint of their holdings on 3-23-22.

Ukraine mounted a fierce resistance and stopped Russia in their tracks. Much of that had to do with Russian incompetence. Their troops were not prepared, their tactics were non existant, they didn't expect any serious resistance, and they ended up in long traffic jams of military vehicles which made them sitting targets for the Ukrainians. Additionally, they never established air superiority over Ukraine.

There will be those who will respond to this and say the attacks in the north were just a feint, but that is BS, Russia thought they could shock and awe their way to Kiev, Ukraine would roll over, and the war would be quickly over. That didn't happen, so Russia retreated from the North of Ukraine and focused on the South and East.

In the fall of 2022, Ukraine mounted a suprise attack and drove Russia out of large parts of the east around Kharkiv. Russia still hasn't regained what they lost in that Ukrainian offensive. Ukraine also drove Russia out of the major city of Kherson in the south, pushing Russia back across the River. Russia still hasn't regained that either.

This is a series of maps showing the lines over time.

And where the lines currently are in Ukraine. The blue represents what Ukraine has taken back from Russia.

ETA: In spite of all the spamming by the pro russian crowd proclaiming that Russia is stomping Ukraine, you can see that the lines really haven't moved very much in the last couple of years. Russia has made incremental gains along the front, but no major movement forward.

Thanks for the info. It is mind boggling (or, "bottling" if it's the O-T Board) that the mighty Russian military is bogged down in a war of attrition after 3.5 years of fighting a third-world country's military.

And, as you say, Russia still doesn't have complete air superiority over Ukraine's skies.

The pro Russian contingent would post about Russian gains and when you stop and analyze just how small they were and that villages they were invading had less than 500 people in them; you begin to understand just how little territory Russian was taking.

Then they would talk about break through, but we would see very little gains even then.

Russia doesn't seem to have a 1st world airforce; not sure they could even exploit air superiority.

That's the truth of the war, unless Ukraine’s moral breaks it's going to be several more years of high casualties low movement.

Barring Russia buying enough North Koreans (>>500k) to open a second front like Lincoln did with Grant.

I think Putin dies long before that happens though.

All of the previous statements are correct and apparently with Trump, to his credit calling Putin on his bullshite the army of Russian bots and trolls is gone now.

The Russians are a paper tiger, this war has Ben a disaster for them. All their cutting edge, best in the world shite is really crap and they have lost somewhere between 750,000 and a million men to injury, death, capture or desertion. The amount of tanks, planes and equipment they have lost is staggering, but worse the entire world is seeing how Western weapons are vastly superior, etc.

This whole thing gives the American industrial complex a big hard one. They are getting to test every weapon system u can imagine in a real world situation, without it costing any American lives.

fricking Bradley’s, (which are our pos, watch the HBO comedy documentary on its creation) are blowing up two or three “advanced” Russian tanks at a time, Leopards are absolutely shredding them. We are finding out they have no answer for HIMARS or Storm Shadow missiles, and finding out the vulnerabilities of every fricking Russian weapon system ever made. The Russians will not even deploy their most advanced systems because they are scared they will get blown to bits too.

I know this hasn’t been cheap but when it’s over, nobody is going to want the shitty Russian shite and they are all going to line up to buy Western weapons as fast as we can make them. (Unless we let the Chinese steal plans for everything)

Putin can launch drones, (we are really seeing their potential effectiveness) and missiles all day but he can’t capture and hold shite.

I know a lot of people don’t like Zlensnksy etc, but if you are former military or military scholar etc you can’t help but be impressed with the Ukrainians and their ability to fight for their country.

The amount of intel we are getting from this is worth 10 times what we have spent so far, and Trump is finally make the EU pony up and the Germans are back in the military equipment building business, and if you don’t think they can build great weapon systems and equipment you never studied WW2.

Putin fricked up and now he is fricked. He is in a war he can’t win and can’t afford to lose

I want a strong Russia to be our ally against China, and I hope we eventually get that, but Putin is not going to be the leader of that Russia now.

I didn’t vet this source but after watching a bunch of these online this one seemed to be most accurate and neutral overall and explains the Russians problems. They are simply outclassed by western weapon systems. (And none of the really advanced shite that even I know about is being used. )

The failure of the Russian summer offensive

This is on how the Russians get around sanctions with their “shadow fleet” and how the Ukrainians have started to carefully target them.

We know exactly every fricking ship in the shadow fleet and its exact location at all times. This is where Biden and so far Trump have failed to act, as a lot of this oil is going to allies etc and we don’t want to destabilize the price of oil and risk a global recession etc. But we could stop this tomorrow if we wanted too.

And ignore all the bullshite in here, they have taken out like 2-5 % of the shadow fleet so far. I am sure it scares the shite out of Putin but it’s more a warning than anything else.

The Russian Azerbaijan conflict

LINK

In short Putin pretended to be peacemaker or referee in the land dispute between them as the Armenians. They later discovered that Russia was helping the Armenians the whole fricking time, to get access to the precious minerals in the disputed zone so obviously they were completely pissed.

They recently signed a mutual defense agreement with Turkey, (Turkey and the Armenians have a bloody history that goes way back), after Turkey gave them western weapons that helped them regain the disputed territory back. Then Turkey has acted like a real peace broker to get everyone on same team so they can build pipelines and roads for them to get their oil, minerals etc to the sea for sale. A big move in everyone’s best interest.

Who was not involved Putin and Russia.

Truth. I'm sure we both have stories.

In Greek business society, it is considered weak and effeminate to tell the truth about anything. Rumor has it that in Greece, you have to prove that you have stolen marine cargo before they give you a driver's licence.

Inflation is coming. The government will squeeze the middle class for as many pre-inflated Rubles as they can before the interest rate drops / printing are initiated. But it looks like many Russians just aren't paying. Will Putin cut off utilities...?

On russian telegram: All going to plan on the economy

In St. Petersburg, all utility payments have been raised at once for the first time in three years. From July 1, utility prices will increase by an average of 13%.

At the same time, tariffs will also increase in other cities of Russia. From July 1, utility prices in Moscow, Novgorod, Murmansk, Yaroslavl and Leningrad regions will soar by 15%, and in some regions - by more than 20%.

Everyone is in debt, credit cards and utilities have not been paid this year, now Putin encourages utilities to increase charges by double digits? Russia is fricked.

Staying on the economy, another way to avoid increasing debt is the tried and tested method of stopping payment to your suppliers. This has gotten so bad the Ru Defense Ministry has stepped in.

Of course, non-payment / counter-claiming has a way of cascading throughout the supplier chain, causing unemployment every step of the way. Middle class unemployment.

quote:

Russian defense industry does not pay its suppliers. Third lawsuit in 2 months filed against T-90M tank manufacturer: Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Plant increases demands on Uralvagonzavod to 105 million.
quote:

More than 211 million rubles demanded from manufacturer of intercontinental ballistic missiles. Russian Defense Ministry files four lawsuits against Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center.
quote:

The manufacturer of the Tu-160 and Tu-95MS strategic bombers was demanded to pay almost a billion rubles. The Ministry of Defense filed a lawsuit against Tupolev.
quote:

Previously, the Arbitration Court of Moscow partially satisfied the claim the Military Department to the SCNPC named after M. V. Khrunichev in the amount of more than 111 million rubles. At the same time, the court did not disclose the exact amount recovered from the enterprise, and not Revealed other details of the claim.

Also last year, the arbitration recovered from the SCNPC in favor of The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation is a penalty of 213.8 million rubles and 3 million rubles for two state contracts.

M. GKNPC V. Khrunicheva - the leading enterprise of the Russian Rocket and space industry and one of the world leaders in the field of development space launchers - heavy-end carrier rockets, acceleration blocks and their systems. The company also designed the intercontinental UR-100 ballistic missile, which was in service from 1966 to 1987.

Air Defense downs 319 Russian drones and 25 cruise missiles

12.07.2025 13:00

Since 18:00 on Friday, July 11, Russia has launched 623 air attack assets against Ukraine:

597 strike UAVs, including Shahed drones and various types of decoy UAVs, were shot down from directions such as Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Kursk, Orel, and Millerovo (339 of them Shahed-type drones);
26 Kh-101 cruise missiles were launched from the airspace over the Saratov Region.

The aerial attack was countered by aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare, and UAV units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.

According to preliminary data, as of 10:00 on Saturday, July 12, air defense forces had destroyed 344 air attack assets:

319 Shahed-type UAVs;
25 Kh-101 cruise missiles.

Additionally, 258 decoy drones were electronically suppressed or lost due to electronic warfare systems.

There were confirmed strikes from one missile and 20 Shahed UAVs in five locations, as well as debris from downed drones falling in 19 locations.

non-payment / counter-claiming

Typical that a Russian supplier will deliver goods which are not up to the agreed standards. Even the Chinese loathe sourcing materials from Russia.

Also, typical that a Russian manufacturer will not layoff workers but delay payment of wages for months at a time, and pay them for Three fifths of what is due.

The Skynex air defense artillery system by Rheinmetall, now in service with the Ukrainian Air Force, is showing outstanding results in destroying Russian attack drones.
