Eviction moratorium leaves North Carolina landlord out $24,000 while tenant has three boats
Buddy Shoup, who owns 35 properties in North Carolina, says his tenants are spending money on other things besides rent while he is forced to maintain the property.

A North Carolina landlord says he is out $24,000 in unpaid rent from tenants, while one renter bought three boats over the course of the eviction moratorium just as the CDC announced a new ban that will last until October 3.

Go take his boat and start using it then. He has to pay for it until the moratorium on renters being fricktards ends.

I'd hire a drifter to burn the fricking house to the ground

So that is why it is taking months and months to buy a new boat. Hell, I am just looking for a new trolling motor for my boat and cant find the types I am looking for due to national backorder. I know some of it is covid shutdown related but damn! From what I understand the demand for boats and boat accessories are seeing unprecedented demand.

He goes whining to the news station instead of crawling up his tenants asses and then wonders why they don't respect him enough to pay him. Act like a bitch and you will get treated like one.

This is the problem with one-size-fits-all policies by the government. It opens the door to abuse while hurting others unnecessarily.

Damn. There's got to be a civil and legal way to take those tenants to court. How can a judge not side with the landlord when there is proof of exorbitant spending on non essentials, much less a fricking boat, instead of rent owed to the individual putting a roof over the ungrateful tenants head?!

If there has to be a moratorium in place, than the tenants must show proof they are living paycheck to paycheck due to the covid restrictions. Just like when people suckle on the unemployment teet, they still need to show active effort in searching for a job do they not?

Someone who owns 35 properties is most likely doing okay, but it still doesn't make it right. If it were me, the tenant who is buying boats would be kicked out of the house the second the moratorium is lifted.

This is why wealth inequality exists. There are people who squander their resources on temporary unnecessary pleasures and those who save and invest for long term gains.

Communism says these people deserve equal no matter what.

The CDC has no right.

Why are we letting this happen?

Wow. So the landlord has to pay for the HVAC repair even if the renter is not paying rent because Uncle JoBama has his back because of covid?

Shouldn't people who can't pay rent have to (like mortgages) SHOW in documents that they lost their job due to or because they had covid?

And if one if this guys tenants happens to die because they leave the property finally the landlord is now fined and jailed?

They are insane.

Frankly I’m surprised more landlord’s properties aren’t succumbing to fire casualties…

From each according to his gifts to each according to his needs.

And in a lot of cases, those people’s “needs” are a bullet. And I don’t mean the landlord.

Same.

I know at least one arson inspector here and he has talked about the kind of shite he has seen but was leaned on to call it accidental.

Awful lot of “cooking accidents” in a city where people tend to eat out a lot.

True, but I was just using that as an example of the process that SHOULD be in place. There will always be those looking for loop holes.
