That is one stupid take . There are actually laws that intelligent people live by unlike Dems . There is. Harassment law that stops landlords from doing that . If a tenant refused to pay legal action is only way

What are you talking about? He has no legal recourse.

Eviction moratorium leaves North Carolina landlord out $24,000 while tenant has three boats
Buddy Shoup, who owns 35 properties in North Carolina, says his tenants are spending money on other things besides rent while he is forced to maintain the property.
A North Carolina landlord says he is out $24,000 in unpaid rent from tenants, while one renter bought three boats over the course of the eviction moratorium just as the CDC announced a new ban that will last until October 3.
FOX NEWS
He should evict them and sue the CDC. We already know Kav-baw will strike it down based on his last opinion.

Their plan is working beautifully.
I got out of the rental business in 2016. 2 months after I sold the house I used to rent had 4 feet of water in it.
Now Government forced free rent is another shining example that I did the right thing.

The CDC has no right.
Why are we letting this happen?
This. The CDC doesn't have the authority to ban a damned thing, but this administration is acting like it does and is allowing it to. This would be a dictatorship.

as a former landlord
once a tenant is behind, they never catch up
it's like gas that's been burned
A tenant has to fuel todays needs
if they didn't have last months rent
they will NEVER have it in the future
single black mother renters are the worst...(based on 8 years of experience)
as far as I am concerned, my reparations bill is paid in full...

Can landlords put a lien on these tenants?
Posted on 8/5/21 at 12:22 pm to Hu_Flung_Pu
My guess is that many of these assholes are either unemployed or change jobs so frequently it is either hard or impossible to get them garnished and they will likely switch jobs simply to dodge it for another few paychecks.
Most landlords I know who have people in arrears don't necessarily want the money as much as they want these assholes gone so they can get paying renters.

We are witnessing the second large transfer of wealth upwards in recent history.
The first was last year when small business' market share was forcefully transferred to Amazon, Wal Mart, Target, etc.
If you haven't noticed yet, all of this only squeezes the middle class. The days of the American dream is over. All these measures only serve to take opportunity away from all Americans, wether they get their check or not.

Why fix anything until they cough up the money. I would be disabling shite left and right.
I would do my best to evict them since there is no law that says you can't.

What should he have done or said to the tenants considering they had federal law and now made up CDC bullshite on their side?

Someone isn’t very informed about why the landlord is in this predicament. Clueless post at its finest.

I rented a single property for 3 years. Sold it about 2 years ago. That the Lord I did with this regime.
Posted on 8/5/21 at 12:59 pm to TigerVespamon
How are these property owners paying the mortgages without collecting rent for over a year?
Posted on 8/5/21 at 1:23 pm to TigerVespamon
He may not be able to evict, but could he put a lean on the boats or other property for past due debts owed to him?
Just curious.

The dictatorial declaration from the CDC does not differentiate between "can't pay" and "won't pay". But this is what tyrannical regimes do. They wreck isht.

My tenants pay their rent and the ones that tried to pull this shite don't live in my properties anymore. It wasn't fricking easy or pretty or cheap but it sets a standard. People will do this shite if they think they can get away with it
So, the “law” is ok because you found a way to circumvent the law?
I, for one, don’t think the two are connected. I think one could find a way around the eviction moratorium and still make the point that it is very bad policy.
Likewise, I don’t think deciding not to find other ways to evict tenants means one can’t complain.

Is there a legal way landlords can disconnected/turn off the utilities to these properties based on not having rents collected to pay utilities

Go get a dozen or so homeless for each property and set them up a tent in the front yard. Have them invite friends.
