DC needs to be destroyed, and elected officials should conduct business from their home state.

Everything can be done remotely.

I don't buy this. Maybe inundates eastern US coast with a 1 foot tsunami.

It's a small island and a large ocean.

The 2004 tsunami that hit southeast asia also hit the east coast of Africa. Tsunamis are no joke and are fully capable of doing damage 1000s of miles away. Again, if the mountain were to partially collapse like it being put forth, many of you would be in serious trouble. Pray this doesn’t happen.

Isn’t it good that the current eruption is small vents spewing lava? As in that should relieve some pressure rather than it going boom at once with a pyroclastic flow

If this did happen, how much time would people have on the east coast?

You could get far enough inland in 4 hours but there’s so many people on the east coast if they all tried to evacuate they’d just get stuck in traffic and die. Youd be better off getting to top of skyscraper and hope it holds

The collapse of the flank could potentially create a mega tsunami inundating the entire US East coast with 100FT tall walls of water flooding 40+ Miles Inland.

People joke because of east coast politics but an event like this would wipe out so many major ports and industries on the coast.

It would be an economic disaster. You think supplies are short now? Take away all the east coast ports

Yes. You want more of those. If it were to blow like Krakatoa or St Helens did you guys are basically dead or relocating out here to California.

Dude, I'm a geologist. The 2004 tsunami was caused by a release of an untold amount of energy as convergent plates displaced at the sea floor. Think shoving yourself forward in the bath tub. A volcanic island with a landslide will displace water but not to the extent it happens at plate boundaries. Thailand was just to the east of the epicenter. Sri Lanka farther to the west. It's a small island in the large ocean.

Is Orlando about to become beachfront property? I’d be OK with that

It's about 35 air miles from Orlando to the east coast. So Yeah.

So is this a wave that goes the distance or is it water movement under water until it hits something and breaks? Just wondering how far out and how fast it can be seen ahead of time.

Oh yeah...and how can this be spun by the Dems to prove this is due to global warming/climate change? Cause once they start that we know it's getting serious.

I’m in Orlando and my wife is at our beach house. She’s been there for five days because she has “stress”.
