Yea, but that wasn’t a 1700 foot wave.

After the initial blast, Lituya Bay’s narrow shape and U-shaped seafloor also amplified the waves, causing them to slosh back and forth like swells in a huge bath tub. Lituya Bay’s steep walls, the geometry of its seafloor, and the fact that it intersects a fault that is often a source of earthquakes suggests that Lituya Bay will see more tsunamis in the future.

I ordered some books which according to FedEx just arrived in New Orleans and should be headed my way shortly. I just hope they get them out of there before the Tsunami hits.

Are these the same eminent scientists that had predicted a three feet rise in the ocean by 2025 and that we would be living underground by 2050?

If this did happen, how much time would people have on the east coast?

Probably somewhere around 8 hours. Not much time to be honest. If this nightmare were to come true you’re looking at 10s of millions dead along the east coast.

That is clearly a worse case scenario where the whole side of the mountain goes simultaneously into the ocean. However if just bits and chunks drop in over a week or two, it will be a very different story.

Well damn! Thanks for the great news. That would mess up the backyard for sure.

It can still be avoided if we'll raise our tax rates and send a few trillion to the U.N.

Apparently there has been a small eruption, very small as far as eruptions go.

Another thing, there have been no recorded earthquake activity there along with the eruption according to USGS earthquake website

Eyes should be on La Palma.

I don't buy this. Maybe inundates eastern US coast with a 1 foot tsunami.

It's a small island and a large ocean.

The long feared collapse of the western flank of La Palma is on the table with the latest events coming out of the island. The collapse of the flank could potentially create a mega tsunami inundating the entire US East coast with 100FT tall walls of water flooding 40+ Miles Inland. All

Me hearing this 20 years ago:

"My God, we have to evacuate all those innocent people!"

Me hearing this now:

"Meh. If Only."

We'd never be so lucky. All the usual assholes would be evacuated anyway and continue their shitty rule from another place.

True but it’s possible. St Helens lost its whole side when it blew
