Because people are both stupid and uninformed. Sadly, my mom was one of them. After I explained it to her, she was shocked and disappointed in her vote.

And it doesn't even remove it, it just drives it down to the local level.

My wife asked me how to vote on the amendments. I told her yes for St George and the inventory tax and no on the rest. Then I asked her who she was voting for senate. She was planning on voting Cassidy and I told her not to. She asked who I voted for and I told her Flemming. Mother in law chimmed in and said she her bad things about Flemming. My response was then vote for Letlow, anyone but Cassidy.

It's just crazy to me the other major political party is punting on a US Senate race... not even a token campaign yet
Maybe saving their funds for November

Tonight is essentially the race for the seat. The Dem candidate is a sacrificial lamb for November and will have no shot.

This board is very pro Fleming, but I think this board really underestimates the Trump endorsement for letlow. Especially to people who really don’t follow politics closely.
I really can’t recall hearing much about Fleming until very recently on TV.

National Dems are broke and Louisiana is a solid red state for national politics these days.

More than 2/3 of Parishes have reported their absentee
Still...
Letlow
Fleming
Cassidy

Looking at the early voting, I don't think people understood that Amendment No. 4 could lead to lower prices on goods.
Inventory tax and taxing the same store fixtures every year is F'ing stupid

Lafayette Parish early voting was
Letlow 39%
Fleming 32%
Cassidy 27%
Other large parishes have not yet reported (NOLA, BR, SHRV/BOSSIER)

Why for which? Why should Baker, Central and Zachary be allowed to separate from EBR schools, but St George be denied?
Why should businesses be penalized for having high inventory on hand? Wouldn't you rather your repair man have the parts needed to fix your shite same day instead of needing to order them?

I think it’s more of a “why do I have to pay taxes and businesses don’t”. It probably starts with the ITEP exemptions. Most folks aren’t a fan of that.

FYI, inventory tax is a backdoor tax on consumers. Not the business.

So she has heard bad things about Fleming?
From who? Cassidy and Letlow?
