I inspect houses for insurance companies. That includes comments on dogs found at a house. I inspected a country home in Coaling, Al done last week. I got the rejection return yesterday afternoon.

"We can no longer accept the term "Coon Hound" in reference to dogs. Please correct your submittal."

My response. "Until the American Kennel Club decides to become as "Woke" as you Yankees in Minnesota, You can eat your comments and accept the term used for the two Black Coon Hounds, both very friendly puppies and baying the entire time I was in their sight, as I worked my way around the house. By the way, I thoroughly enjoyed the sound of their calls while on the property."

Return comment ....."Accepted" Received this afternoon.

Give it a rest...

Bravo

I once told a black lady, who I spoke with often and considered a work friend, a story about going “coon hunting”. It apparently offended her because she went to HR.

The HR lady’s husband was a hunting baw, so she understood that’s just what we call raccoons in AL.

Nothing came of it, but I no longer spoke to that nubian queen.

They're coon hounds in WI.

I'm guessing the clowns in the office in MN do not know anyone that hunts.

Call the it what it is. No need to white wash our language into inaccuracy.

We're six months away from having to call them "Labs of Color."

Stick to your guns so they won't get confiscated.

Why is “coon hound” offensive? Coon is just short for raccoon.

Some people see race in EVERYTHING. It’s fricking nuts.

? There are several official AKC breeds that use the word coonhound. It is acceptable if you own that breed.

Why not just use Black Raccoon Hounds?

Because it isn't the breed name.

Way to not back down. Coincidentally, one of the suburbs in the MSP metro is the town of Coon Rapids. It was named for the abundance of raccoons that were hunted in the area back in the day. As you can probably expect, a small but vocal team of morons want to change it because it’s somehow “racist.”

I got in trouble in Portland, Or in a class when someone asked me who taught me how to cook and I said an old coon arse. The instructor wanted to kick me out of class because I said a racist comment while cussing. The instructor also claimed to be from Louisiana. My boss laughed and then called him a liar. He told him if he had ever been close to Louisiana he would know the phrase coonass
