re: Why are people allowed to not carry/cancel insurance? And why do police not confirm this?

Several of Tuscaloosas patrol cars have some kind of sensors\readers on the fenders that scan license plates. They need to put these on all the patrol cars and make the system check insurance in addition to the current outstanding warrants. Then arrest the driver and impound the car until insurance is paid and in these cases the purchase of insurance should be non-refundable.
This looks like the most plausible solution going forward, with emphasis on impounding vehicle.
Also,
** If officer doesn't check for insurance, then make them liable for damages.
** Minimal liability should be raised to $25k in all states.
What are they gonna do? Put a spike strip on Mars? :booboo:
The efficiencies of these refrigerants is probably a coin toss in the big picture. The problems come in with:
A: Changes in refrigerants that are incompatible with previous systems.
B: Thinner wall coils for efficiency and cost cutting lends to expensive and too frequent repairs/replacements.
C: Proprietary circuit boards to eek out the last seer rating # and expand on service call frequency and costs.
Stick with R22 refrigerant with thick copper coils and NO circuit boards. In the long run, fewer refrigerant leakage, no toxic circuit board residue, and much less units being dumped. Mandatory 15 year warranty. This will be more environmental friendly by far. Of course this will never happen.

re: Why does my AC at home go out every year but my car one never does?

I may be wrong, but I don't believe the government regulates Auto A/C units like Home HVAC systems. Also, most autos have at least a 36 month warranty but sell extended warranties for up to 10 years. Replacing evaporator coils in an auto can be very expensive so they don't have to bump against the laws of physics with crazy regulations and warranties provide an incentive to make quality units. Also car mfgs like Toyota, Honda don't want a tarnished name, so units are better built and their competitors are forced to follow suit.
Where as home HVAC units most common/expensive failures are evaporator coils in the attic, usually caused by super thin walls failing, due to increasing efficiency demands, and no incentives to improve quality. The homeowner then has to decide on replacing the whole unit vs doing a repair which both are money for the technicians. Many of the brands in the past have consolidated and most home owners don't equate brand differentiation as readily as car makers.
As others have stated, capacitors are a common issue also. I think most blow due to electrical brownouts and spikes. Autos have a better/consistent power regulation system.
Just a guess.

In memory of Bob, I decided to post links to all of his major league highlights:
I have the VIOFO A119 Mini 2 and am very satisfied with. The VIOFO are usually rated the best bang for the buck.
Also, the Dongar adapter like others suggested works well.
If you want parking monitor, you will probably need to route the wires to a fuse box. But the VIOFO has a harness to monitor battery voltage and will shut off camera recording while parked if voltage goes below set value.
Check out Dashcamtalk.com for more info than you probably care to know regarding various dashcam mfgs.

Comparing annual treatment/inspection costs is not very meaningful IMO.
How they respond to termite damage is the most important. Ideally, their treatment is effective, but it's always a guessing game - especially in the south.
I have a friend who experienced >$30k damage, & Terminix took care of it to his satisfaction. However, I've read plenty of negative reviews online with them also. So I would imagine it depends on the region.
Many companies will only re-treat at no cost, but won't repair damage. Not very useful to me.
All the companies I talked to will do a cursory inspection & do either trenching or Sentricon stakes, but the insurance won't kick in until 1 year later.
I wish I could purchase termite insurance, like flood insurance, with an annual certificate from a licensed firm to maintain eligibility.

I've had more than normal mosquitos lately, but what people are referring to as mosquito hawks, I've always known them as crane flies.
Dragon flies are the true mosquito hawks, which sadly, I never see enough of them.

I've been contemplating installing a dash cam in my vehicle.
Has anyone been in an accident in which your dash cam has actually been useful in preventing or helping in litigation?
I don't want to go thru the hassle of installing one if all the insurance company wants to do is settle the case and dismiss any video evidence.

Where is this "confirmation" they speak of?

Beats anything BR has to offer (though I haven't tried Hannah's & Unleaded yet).
There sides are OK, but the brisket is EXCELLENT. Also, love their pulled pork poBoy.
The station owners just took out the small seating area :banghead: So take out only.
Can you provide a link to this mandate?
I checked WINK news site (and Google) and didn't see anything about a mandate, though there are references to some places offering E15.
Not doubting that they would do something this stupid.

La. Gaming Board Confirm. Hearing Today - Cronyism on trial

Ex-Senator Ronnie Johns was appointed head of La. Gaming Control Board last year by JBE. It was an obvious move by JBE to thwart a potential veto of 2 bills - (Concealed Carry & Women's sport transgender).
Ronnie Johns accepted the challenge and chose to screw the citizens of La. by missing the veto session.
The senate committee confirmation hearing will be held today @ 1:00 PM.
