quote:

"You close it and you won't have a country." President Trump said he told Iranian officials about the Strait of Hormuz. "You won't even make it back to your fu*king country." "We may take over the Strait, if we have to," Trump said. "If they don't make a deal, we'll collect tolls." Trump added the U.S. could become the "Guardian Angel" of the Strait, and take 20% of the oil.

How would we prevent the missile, drone and mine threats?

Run convoys using the navy and missile defense platforms indefinitely?

Guess we could try it for enough time to build a pipeline to skip the strait altogether but that’s years out if we started now.

Quotation marks don't mean your version of what someone said.

Time to destroy it all.

They are not serious people to be negotiating with. I feel terrible for the Iranian people thinking America was going to bail them out only to be left in the dark.

Past time and it’s the only actual fix for the situation.

Yeah, Trump drawing this out is just a mistake, just get on with destroying the IRG. You can’t negotiate with terrorists, why even try, it’s ridiculous

We do not have escalation dominance, if we did, we already would've taken over the straight.

In order for the US to do this, they have to be ok with tremendous damage and loss of life, to include our Gulf Allies, our bases in the Middle East, and our Navy.

Too bad nobody believes he'll follow through on his threats anymore. He's completely lost that leverage in negotiating until he proves otherwise.

Shipping traffic in the Strait has come to a standstill as we speak. Does he consider that "closed"? Will he do anything about it or just continue to talk tough, then declare "we put off any action because they didn't technically CLOSE the Strait and now talks are going really well!" or something to that effect?

The Iranian delegation in Switzerland apparently got up and walked out when they heard these threats, but they're still hanging around like they know he'll backtrack again. If they thought he was serious in any way they'd be hauling their asses back to Iran.

It's time for General Mobilization of the US nation state and time to invade and conquer Iran before people start pointing and laughing us and calling us "France".

People on here seem to forget that Trump is nothing more than a businessman who thinks that he can apply his business tactics to foreign diplomacy. Him being in the White House doesn’t change that.

Other than maybe you have a different definition of tremendous… why is this funny?
Do you not think Iran will hit some of those listed targets?

It’s their country, they had the opportunity to rise up and they did not.

we just have to wait for the global economy to be brought to its knees.

I would follow norris and SFP here if I was you. They are the harbingers of "what comes next" in this room.

They've been on the "Iran is much tougher and smarter than the US" gloom and doom bandwagon from the jump. And I'm sure it has nothing to do with the Orange Man.

Powerbottom gets honorable mention.

Seriously, whatever they say about "now what". That's what's up!!

other than that. nothing.

I do find the definition of tremendous damage amusing in light of the damage inflicted on Iran in the last 4 months that seems to be discounted and/or ignored by the same bunch
