Do you think Paxton is a worse candidate than Talarico? Because that’s what the choice is.
It doesn’t really matter what I think; that’s not the way politics works. The election is statement in Trump’s bad second term. That is compounded by the fact that the GOP ran a shitty, corrupt candidate that Trump pushed because he’s an egotistical nutjob.
The merits of the candidates, unfortunately, don’t really matter. Most voters don’t follow this stuff closely.

I’d be quite reluctant to assume that too many rational voters share your personal loathing of Trump. Many people aren’t as negative, pessimistic and melodramatic. Oh and plus that’s just your opinion. One person’s opinion. I know it’s tempting to believe everyone else in the country thinks the way you do, but color me quite skeptical on that note.

Respect you AM. But your are wildly missing on Trumps second term. It’s just fine. You are falling for the MSMs characterization. You’re too smart for that.

That’s assuming that Paxton can win a General.
What was your projection about Trump in the 2024 general?

The “freak” has crossed the 70% barrier on Kalshi.
Meantime Elon the magnificent just paid $10M to run AI bot robocalls lying about data centers. The irony is not lost on Texas voters.

I’ll bet you $1000 that Paxton wins. Yes or no?
My plane lands in two hours. You have till then to accept.
You won’t.

Republicans would win with a better candidate, easily.
2018 Senate election
Cruz 4,260,000 50.89%
Beto 4,045,000 48.33%
2024 Cruz won reelection with Trump on the ticket. Trump got 500,000 more votes than Cruz. When Trump is on the ticket it brings out Republican voters like very few candidates have ever done. When he’s not on the ticket it will probably be close to how 2018 Senate election was and how this years election will be.

When I win…donate it to St Jude’s. Post the receipt so we know you did it.
On the very slight chance you win…let me know where you want the money sent. There are several posters here who know me. We can use them to transfer it if you want.

Why would you just not bet that on a prediction market with better odds?

Paxton will win - the gop will win the senate - the Dems will win the house barely

Hedge. Either way St Jude wins.

I believe Paxton wins by at least 2.5 to 3%.

I think there have been numerous examples of so-called “Republicans” who have made it more than clear they consider anything MAGA-aligned more of an enemy to them than even the radical Socialists.
These spoiled, spiteful, and shortsighted idiots are so ate-up with MAGA’s impact to their own hold on power that they’ll gladly form an alliance with the same party that openly desires to tear down the very foundations of the republic.
Cornyn has conducted himself as the poster boy for this “viewpoint”.
Don’t know if Paxton wins but Cornyn has certainly shown he no longer deserved to be there.

I am old enough to remember when Beto Orourke was considered a serious contender to Ted Cruz .. way back when the Earth was still cooling, in like 2018.. Ted Cruz, who might be the only candidate as shitty, or shittier, than Paxton.. I dont have a dog in the fight, but if it didnt happen with Beto, then I dont see it happening in our lifetimes.. "it" being Republicans losing a stronghold on the republic of Texas... I am Gen X, and maybe after I am dead and gone, Texas *might* turn purple.. I wont be convinced until I see it, but ill probably be food for worms by that point .

Beto never came close to polling as well as Talarico. Regardless of your opinion on Cruz, he is a much better fundraiser and speaker than Paxton. Thus a better candidate in nearly every way. He is simply more politically savvy
There is also a lot of things the state has done both in their control and outside of it. The freeze a few years ago for example, people don’t forget losing power for a week because it got cold. Dan Patrick’s reefer madness as another
Miles varies on schools but HISD parents aren’t happy. Vouchers are great for some but most of good private schools don’t take them.
Then you have Trump 2 vs Trump 1. This is a much different environment than 2018. That is all before you even get to how much of wet blanket Paxton is
