How do you interpret that in today’s political climate?

I assume they're ignorant. Because most people who claim that out loud in public as a badge of honor are ignorant.

Assuming people are ignorant is probably one of the most ignorant things you can do.

They’re one of the following:
1. A human with common sense representing what the R party should stand for;
2. A progressive who hates conservatives, but thinks conservatives might listen to him if he identifies as something more similar to them; or
3. A bitter NeverTrumper who can’t bring themselves to vote for a democrat.

Most irl are in the first category, most online fall into the second, and most on television are in that third category.

I'm a registered libertarian. I'm not hardcore, but I think their ideas are generally better than other parties.

To me it means i think i'm smart and want to complain about both sides while not taking a stand that can help improve matters.

They’re uncomfortable and uncommitted on the real issues that separate conservatives and progressives.

I understand that they prefer the purity of political and economic philosophy to the ugly reality of the sausage- making that is governance.

Claiming that if one were to assume people are ignorant is itself ignorant, displays an ignorance of the reality that most people in the world are ignorant.

That I want to be left alone. Go have a military and have it be awesome AF. I'm in the minority of libertarians on this one.
Stop taxing me or my business like crazy. Tax my property if it's on sovereign land and protect it. I'll gladly pay for that.
Stop giving out my money to those who do not earn it
Stop telling me I can't grow, buy, or smoke weed whenever I want (Couldn't anyway because of my job, but it's the principle)
Let me own whatever type of gun I want and don't put me on any list for it
Go be gay. Who the frick cares
Don't murder people.
Don't take what isn't yours.

A lot of them just don't like the word 'liberal'. So, they are libertarians because they are Marxists who support gay marriage so that makes them libertarian.
Or, they are Marxists who want dope legalized so that makes them libertarian.

I consider myself as libertarian leaning. I am a social liberal and a fiscal conservative. (Neither party seems to be fiscally conservative any longer.)

In a different political system, I would applaud the existence of a libertarian party with its own agenda. Libertarians who realize, like me, that voting GOP even with RINOs is better than Democrats. Libertarian Republicans are a big wing of the GOP.

The problem I have is when registered libertarians, who know their party's nominee has literally no chance at all at winning, votes for that candidate, which causes that libertarian candidate to be a spoiler candidate and allows a left-leaning Democrat to win. Yes, you can point out many issues with the GOP candidate, yes I believe people should vote their values, but was allowing a liberal to win in the long run worth it?

It means they lean one way but don’t want to publicly take sides.

I am a libertarian, but I don’t affiliate with the party, as it has an agenda. I think true libertarians don’t really have an agenda, they just want people to leave each other alone

The majority of people are ignorant. If you will not acknowledge that fact then you are either ignorant or just naive.
