Why is this necessary if people aren't crossing the border and we're deporting around 700 people every day?
We've got 20+ million illegal criminal invaders to get out of our great country. Your number of 700 a day is 3500 a week (5 days) and 4900 (7 days). If we settle on 4000 a week, that is 208,000 in a year. We need to increase that total to 5+ million a year to get them all out in 4 years. That's why.

The big bastard included $45 billion for new detention centers and $29.9 billion for enforcement and deportation operations. This represents a 265% increase in the detention budget and a 300% increase in the overall ICE budget. The bill also includes funding to hire 10,000 new ICE agents and boost detention capacity to an average daily population of 100,000. Why is this necessary if people aren't crossing the border and we're deporting around 700 people every day?

Out of curiosity I wonder how similar this increase is to the increase in illegals allowed entry over the past 4 years.

It costs money to continue success at the border, and it costs a lot to correct the mistakes of the devestating and criminal policies of the Biden admin.

ICE and Border Patrol aren't the same thing. They do two separate things. You're basically complaining that we allocated funds to fix roads because the traffic lights are working.

As far as I know they aren’t deporting Trump supporters, so that’s wrong.

it is likely that much of the border spending will be cut back

Has this ever happened? Historically, ICE has always spent more than its congressionally-approved budget, sometimes by billions of dollars.

Do you libs seriously not understand we’re fixing what is evidently broken? We’re not only stopping what y’all were doing, we’re fixing what yall f’d up.

Because 700 a day is far short of where it should be when compared to how many people the previous admin let waltz right in and hand billions in benefits.

You wanna pay billions endlessly to house them in luxury hotels or billions to end the perpetual payments?

Next question.

The army cannot act against citizens on US soil but ICE can?
