Wow, one example to back up your claim. One example that isn't even all that strong, since the 30 Years War had a whole list of causes and only one of them was religious.

That's kind of what I thought.

Regardless of CE or BCE or when a pretend prophet died the ME tribes have enjoyed hating on one another. Throw in the Jewish aspect and you have biblical history warriors. It’s what they do even on a slow Tuesday afternoon

In my opinion, the biggest reason why the Middle East is constantly in conflict is because the nations have arbitrary boundaries.

Europe experienced near constant warfare for over 2000 years to arrive at its present borders. Those borders do a reasonably good job of reflecting ethnic, religious, and cultural boundaries as well as defensive terrain.

South America experienced roughly a century of warfare following independence from Spain, and it resulted in mostly defensible borders that make sense. While South American governments aren’t the most stable economically, they tend to have few reasons to war with one-another.

In the Middle East, the borders are largely the result of British officials drawing arbitrary maps after WWI to divide up the former Ottoman Empire. The borders are drawn without respect to ethnic groups, defensive borders, or access to resources. For example: Iraq is drawn with no defensive borders, only one tiny port, and zero control over its water supplies while containing multiple large ethnic minorities with large populations in neighboring countries. This ensures Iraq is always unstable and always must be at war with its neighbors to maintain its water supplies or be puppeted by its neighbors to continue drinking. Similar issues exist across the Levant and Arabian peninsula, and dropping Isreal in the middle just made it even worse.

You’re such a douche. So it had religious causes. Thanks for admitting that. Since you’re too lazy to do your own homework, I’ll be generous and help you out a little. The crusades against the Cathars, the crusades against pagan communities in the Baltics, numerous other religious wars against other “heretic” communities, decades of fighting among various Protestant and Catholic factions. Hell, even the English Civil War had religious motivations.

It means “God is the greatest”. It’s used in a lot of contexts.

For the Muhammads, they choose to subscribe to the classic Soviet definition in which peace = lack of opposition to their agenda.

That's the mirror you are looking at.

You're the one denying—with a doe-eyed, "Who, me?"—that the entire Muslim religion is founded on conquests and forced conversions going all the way back to fricking Mohammed, the founder. That practically all of the commandments are about conquests and punishing non-believers. That the ME isn't the most theocratically governed corner of the entire planet today.

I'd detail that out way more, but I've wasted enough time on your stupid arse already today.

Everybody else here who isn't committed to being a disingenuous fricking nimrod on the issue to virtue signal their atheism gets it.

Trying not to confuse some as Arabs and Persians have been at odd for a long time. Calling the Muslims was just an easier way to say it. But before Muhammad prophet they battled. Well yeah. Alexander the Great defeated both the Persians and the Arabs, and set up a dynasty in Egypt, but that was a long time before either Jesus or Mohammed were around.

Tribes have been warring with other tribes since humans came into being.

Countries are just larger versions of tribes with well defined borders.

Poor christians in developing countries are more culturally advanced and civilized than any of the wealthiest Muslim oil sheikhs in any of the Gulf countries.

What the frick is your problem? I haven’t said anything about any of that. You’re ascribing things to me that I haven’t even commented on. It’s weird. I’m no apologist for Islam, you’ve just gotten your panties in a twist because you don’t like being called out for your ignorance about certain things.

Once again (I think it’s been twice this week alone), I am not an atheist. You’re just making shite up, again because of your defensiveness. You need to learn to calm the frick down.

I provided some examples for you in an earlier post, but here it is again.

The Catholic church waged war / crusades, for several centuries prior to the reformation, against what they considered to be heretical groups of Christians within Europe.

Back then, the European countries that we know today did not exist. They were mostly duchies. And every now an then, the ruler of a duchy would rebel against the church, and the Pope would declare a crusade in order to quell the rebellion.

After the reformation, there were quite a few Catholic vs Protestant / state vs state wars. Not just England vs Ireland.

Islam has only been around for 1500 years or so

Iran was initially Persians and were believers in Zoroaster which was a monotheistic religion.

Well, yeah. Because after that, the religious monarchies started getting overthrown, so there were no longer any religion-based countries.

You may have heard of the French Revolution, and others like it, where secular governments took control. Kind of like the country you live in now.

But those countries with secular governments continued to wage war with each other.

Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. The British created all of those countries.

When I was a kid, Bangladesh was called East Pakistan.
