I would be OK with banning AR style weapons

I've heard all the arguments and rationalizations and at this point I think the benefits outway the risks. I'm a good ole baw born and raised hunting and fishing. I have never understood the AR thing, but have supported other's rights to own them. (Everyone I know who owns one is a douche btw) They serve no other real purpose than to kill a lot of people. They're really not great for hunting. I guess they're fun at the range, but bid deal. I don't think its a small coincidence just about every person looking to commit mass murder gravitates to an assault rifle. I think a lot of theses douche bags would reconsider their actions if they were forced to use a shotgun, hand gun or bolt action / lever action rifle. I know there are a lot of them already in circulation, but these are mostly young guys who go out and buy their 1st weapon specifically for the purpose of mass murdering and therefore I think it would really help. It wasn't that long ago they were banned (in the 90's if i'm not mistaken). Anyone else feel like this is just common sense at this point? I for one would not miss em one bit. Thoughts?

That settles it
By the way, birds of a feather and all that. Maybe don’t hang around so many douche bags and you’d meet more normal people with ARs. There are plenty

Cho killed 33 people with Glocks

They are just like hunting rifles but with larger ammo capacity and a "cool" look.

Apparently you are for banning paragraphs too.
I don’t care about your feelings, but nice troll thread.

Cruz could have gone in there with a Glock 17 and 4 mags and done the same amount of damage.
He could have gone in there with an autoloader shotgun and a bag of shells and kill the same amount of people.

There must be a template you guys are following with this script. It's been posted all day. "I'm a good ole baw who hunts and votes Republican, BUT nobody needs one of them there AR15s. They don't have no purpose."
Nobody cares what your opinion is on the AR15. They are legal. They are no more dangerous than any other gun. Those of us who own AR15s will never turn them over for because next we'll here we don't need (insert whatever type of gun you wish).

The VTech shooter used pistols. Thw Columbine shooters did not use AR's.
But I grant you that most tend to use them. Why? They are not only the most popular platform in America today but they are typically acquired for a price in the same range as an upper end pistol and they are the most balanced weapon platform out there. It's no secret why they are so common in these cases.
Ban them and the next most popular and efficient platform will be the one used. And so on, and so on. When will your argument for banning popular platforms used in shootings stop?
What's to stop someone using a .223 caliber carbine with a fixed stock and no pistol grip from shooting up a school with similar outcome? Or a pistol caliber carbine, which would probably be even more efficient?

AR style can be any caliber, It’s easily customizable. You can swap parts in and out, uppers and lowers, rather than a big chunk of wood/metal that is what it is for life.
Doesn’t make it any more deadly when pulling the trigger, just more practical for customizing and adapting.
You can make a 30 round mag for any semi auto platform, you can have a 10 round mag on any AR platform.
