Then how in the hell did JBE win 2 terms in a statewide race?

Edit--the answer will be because the La GOP is weak.

Because the last two candidates sucked.

And Jindal had the state a dumpster fire before that trying to be the biggest conservative in the country ignoring common sense.

And Edwards is basically a republican in any state north of North Carolina. Pro life so a lot of evangelical support over a scandalous David Vitter.

30-40% Red wins in Presidential and senate races. That’s not purple.

The party apparatus is garbage in our state. Their messaging is unclear. Their judgement of character is suspect. A centrist candidate could easily win again.

Again, I think you're understating the tenuous demographic situation of Louisiana and focusing blame on the GOP machine and poor candidates.

Gravy getting more than a dozen votes in any election is shameful.

Was it an intentional thing you just typed about all of us here? Just curious

It’s more complicated than just saying they are “weak.” There’s a lot if goofy internal divisions that are easy to exploit and play on in intrastate races that are usually overcome in presidential elections.

It’s not an ideal situation by any stretch. It’s just not really anything like Georgia. It’s sort of an opposite dynamic from them, if anything.

John Bel is a throwback to a John Breaux/Bennett Johnston type of democrat...he is not a shrill siren a la Pelosi et al. That and you had two schmucks run against him.

Louisiana is NOT a red state anymore. Purple at best.

When did Louisiana last vote for a Democrat for President? 1996 - Bill Clinton. Our Governor's office has been about 50/50 and our Senators have been about 3/4 Republican. That's a red state!

You can make excuses all you like but his handling of the scamdemic was not moderate at all.

At the end of the day, egotistical, power hungry, self-appointed party "cognescenti" promise to doom La to a pathetic governor for another 8 years.

Georgia, despite its party and demographics managed to turn EVERY set-wide office red with the exception of Senator, and that was not for lack of ground game.

Just say it, not Jeff Landry

And when he loses it will be his fault for not uniting people. I don’t want to be united with his views

I am convinced that Mitch and Kevin did not want massive sweeps, so they could still place the blame on Democrats going into 2024.

I think they knew the House was going Red no matter what, but there would have been little benefit to holding both parts of Congress without the Power to override a Veto.

Now they can put forward bills in the House and watch them die in the Senate and tell everyone that they tried to pass stuff.
