I respect Trump doing the right thing now in Iran even though the war was a mistake.

He made the decision to go in and hit them as hard as any president has ever done. He had some intelligence that wasn’t right in hindsight but at the time, but many intelligent people believed the regime was weak and could be defeated in an air campaign. That was wrong but instead of doing arguably the easy thing and doubling down, he is doing the smart thing, at a great political cost, and agreeing to terms that are politically difficult because it is the best thing for our country and the world. If he is able to stand up to media scrutiny and stay the course on this deal, I respect it I gotta say.

its utter defeat.
We're paying at least $300 billion to rebuild Iran.......and the regime is still in charge and now even stronger than before since they know that any future US air and naval campaign isn't a threat to their grasp on power. And that they can bring us to our knees politically by shutting down commercial shipping in the strait for a few months.

Or, you can say how it really happened. Trump underestimated Iran and “cut bait” to get out. He took a big loss on this.

You just can't be THIS F*CKING STUPID.
Of course, given the rest of your post, it’s clear you are.

This statement right here tells me that understand absolutely zero about the stakes of this conflict.

You’re an utter idiot.
And your (and your fellow moonbats) need to overplay your hand like this is exactly why voters in the US will not make him pay a price whether they agree with him or not. Because if the side with you they have to agree this is utter defeat

So we spanked Iran but will now make them better than ever. Wonderful. Like a guilty parent. Spank the kid then buy them a bike.

I think there is a fair chance we look back in 5 years and Iran is considerably less of a threat to the West and to security in the region than it was.
But I also think your point is fair. I will say that something akin to "we took a shot, we got some results, we probably weakened Iran as a threat to the US considerably, and now we're getting the best deal we can without additional leverage and leaving it alone" is, in many ways, better than how we've done things in the past. So there's that.

Iran without sanctions and hundreds of billions of dollars emboldened by the fact (1) they faced the combined forces of the US, Israel, and the Arab Gulf states to a stalemate at worst and (2) they have the cheat code to win (shutting down the SOH) in future conflicts is MUCH stronger than Iran of January 2026.
Iran only lost easily replaceable stuff that is much more easily replaced with lots of money.

Per the released MOU:
quote:
United States of America undertakes with regional partners to develope a definite, mutually agreed plan with at least USD $300 billion for the reconstruction and economic development of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The mechanism for the implementation of this plan will be finalized as part of a final deal within 60 days. All required licenses, waivers and permission needed for the relevant financial transactions will be granted by the United States of America
So it may not be *solely* the US, but Iran is going to receive at least $300B if they get to a deal within 60 days.

Oh and also, they really REALLY hate us now. Even more than when we tried to overthrow their government in '53 .
Thanks Israel. Yall really are our greatest allies.!

To do what now?
They get nothing if they break the deal.
Trump said he will bomb them to oblivion if they break the terms.

Let’s hold on final declarations a bit and see if the deal is still considered the best thing for the country and the world 5, 10, 15 years down the road.
It may prove to be the best deal ever but absolutely not a one of us know that for sure here sitting here today.
The Islamic Republic government still exists and still controls Iran. Their behavior in coming years will go a long way in determining if this deal was the best thing for the country and the world.

Regardless of how many times or who says your statement is false it’s people like you that represent the worse type of people

I mean they just got hundreds of billions of dollars from sanctions being lifted alone.

I don't think they get the full $400B
I think they get well into the hundreds before we claim they break the deal, though.

I was being very kind by not saying Iran won. I guarantee you they feel like they won. They neutered the US attack by shutting down the SOH and we couldn't do shite to get shipping back at pre-war levels.
