But you more.

Maybe if it was a few days... but you had 8 months?

The total scope was 20 years though. You can only control so much if what happens at that point you're at the end of delivery and almost to close out phase.

You do the best with what you got and work to derisk more and more daily on the stuff you can knowing you're coming in over budget and late no matter what you do.

Would this be my fault or the fault of the previous manager?

Just be sure your superiors understand that it was your predecessor that sent all those mean tweets and everything should be fine.

Sounds a little like Biden's conundrum, but I wouldn't look to him for guidance.

I think we can all agree that the “plan” getting out of Afghanistan) was not the problem, but the execution has been a disaster. Having said that, given that this is the same intel and military as it was 7 months ago, I think it was destined to be a cluster f**k.
Lived through Viet Nam and this Is a disastrous repeat. We learn nothing!

It's both your faults really.

But if the previous manager had set it up in such a way that if you didn't enact it, it would lead to your termination, then I would blame the previous manager.

The project plan was already put togetger. I didn't review it or even if I did, I did not change anything. I had been the manager for 8 months before go-live.

It's irrelevant if the project had already been put together because you had EIGHT MONTHS to review it and make changes.

You didn't = your fault.

You'd never have s PM if you fired one Everytime a project they got assigned went bad. You have to assess situation by situation and whether they contributed to the problem and solution not just oh shite it went tits up fire their arse. Did they sound alarms, raise red flags, pull in more resources, etc.

Biden failed and is failing at a lot of things but this critique just implies none of you have managed teams before....

Yea, that’s how it works in the real world but not for politicians who are never held accountable when there isn’t an election involved

How would you describe the tweets of the aforementioned “previous manager”?
Unkind? Virulent? Bitchy?

Except that's not what happened. In this thought exercise or what the exercise is alluding to.

The current manager has full control over the project. He can change it, modify it, or push it out as long as he sees fit. It is his project. Period.

did you also get bad intel from a politically charged intel community to act on your project because that is what JObama will say today; unless someone calls him and says dont place blame on others the polls say they are losers.
