But, he doesn't really stand for anything and so trying to defend him on principle ends up in ritual humiliation.
It is just as bad as the COVID tyranny crowd:
"FOLLOW THE SCIENCE!...(not THAT science)"
"LISTEN TO THE DOCTORS!...(not THOSE doctors)"

The biggest thing that I take away from government in todays world is this.
Apart from voting, running, and praying for specific things there is nothing you can do.
The left and right are controlled by billionaires. We are headed to Agenda 2030.
The biggest thing you can do is to prepare for it. Not focus on the issues in the country. Become self reliant and focus on your relationship with the Lord.
We are living in the darkest and wonderful times simultaneously.
Alot fo good in the world, and especially all the advancements in tech, but then with the information age we also see the terrible plight of humanity. It is thrown in our face every moment

Tariffs could be considered conservative.
Nope. In modern day conservatism, tariffs have never been considered "conservative".

Both of these are based on outcomes.
The first paragraph ignores any outcomes that aren't favorable to conservative principles and the 2nd paragraph doesn't.
Also, there have been 0 tax cuts. There is no such thing as an unbalanced budget, the only thing that can change is how it's paid for. If it's not paid directly in taxes, it's paid by inflation and/or more debt which is even more expensive and still causes inflation.
Deregulation seems to have been for a select few at best. Mom and pops are still having to compete with extreme regulations developed by larger corporations to prevent competition in almost every case. I don't make a ton of fuss about that, but it would be nice if it really happened more.
Your economic analysis of debt, inflation, and corporate regulatory capture is spot on. But that actually proves my point. The fact that 'transactional conservatives' celebrated a debt-financed tax cut as a win shows they care about the short-term headline (the outcome), whereas a 'principled conservative' would oppose it because it violates fiscal restraint (the systemic principle).

There are definitely different standards, I'm just saying I'm also about the outcomes. I just expect real ones.

MAGA is not conservative or liberal.. MAGA is MAGA which is weird to me that some people cannot understand this after 10 years
again
most of his policies are conservative/right wing or just what is best for the USA. not all but vast majority.
these fricking retards here who keep saying he is not conservative on anything are stupid and do not even know how to gauge that. there are dozens and dozens of issues you can use to gauge that, you do not gauge someone based on ONE ISSUE. like spending.
trump is far fricking right compared to W.
trump sure AS frick IS MORE RIGHT THAN REAGAN ALSO. especially after reagan allowed amnesty and raised SS tax ceiling.
example:
10 right wing and say 11 left makes you a MOD
2 left wing, 2 right wing and 10 moderate makes you a MOD
15 right wing policies and 2 left wing does not make one LEFT WING nor does 15 left wing and 2 right wing make one a right winger.

OK, that made me laugh (if CTE is the football head injury thing)
REAL MAGA (the one when RR was POTUS) was somewhat conservative
FAKE MAGA (the one with DJT as POTUS) never was
As to Republican conservatorship, I guess IKE was a terrible Republican and POTUS?
I swear, folks have the memory and focus of a gnat these days. No wonder Merica is in the crapper. WAKE UP AMERICA, and throw BOTH sides out in favor with folks with common sense like we used to have.
