re: The Portal is Madness

I don't see him leaving on his own just yet, still something to prove record-wise I think.

As for horns in the portal I am surprised at the number but maybe I spend too much time reading what the Kool-Aid drinkers on Surly think as opposed to SEC Rant where the Texas posters are more grounded.

If you step back and look at any program it appears the bottom is dropping out but all those kids in the portal have to land somewhere so really all we are seeing is a college football version of musical chairs.
The Parker Livingstone thread on Surly is up to 20 pages now as they just cannot stop obsessing over one of THEIR players going to Oklahoma.

It's sad, man, like makes me cry.
On the fifth play from scrimmage after a botched fake punt, McCoy was knocked out of the game by Alabama DT Marcell Dareus

I'll never forget Colt's grim-faced father as he walked with him to the tunnel. If an Alabama fan had got in his way at that moment he would have taken their head off.
I liked this thread better when it was "nun and void".

Maybe it reminded me of my Catholic school upbringing.
Trying to contractually lock players down would violate the intent but can players be held financially liable witn a contact paying them be for a set time which if cut short result in having to pay back for services not rendered?

I watch a lot of Texas football, almost as much as Oklahoma football.

When those two were playing you'd here that exact same statement during every broadcast so yeah, it has become a punch line.
It gives hardcore college football fans something to keep them interested when there are no games being played.

One of the best to play at Texas in the McCoy era.

Did you know, not only was he Colt McCoy's favorite receiver, he was also his roommate?
I Buy Power

Sells desktop and laptops with full customization which means adding to the basic cost but if you are a serious gamer . . .

I prefer laptops to desktops because I like to take it with me when I travel or even move from room to room.

One less Harbaugh now, Ravens fired John.
Go to Surly and start at page 1 of the thread titled "Parker Livingstone" which timewise is the beginning of the season.

It is all good.

Then around page 13 he has entered the transfer portal and for the most part the comments about him are still positive.

At page 16 it all falls apart when he chooses to go with Oklahoma.

You'd think he was the worst player on the team and a traitor to the state of Texas.

They really hate being spurned by a kid going to OU.

Suck it whorns!

Go Sooners!
Is There Anything That Could Stop Someone From Straight Buying a Championship?

The short answer is yes.

Here is an article that seems to confirm what happens when you DON'T try to buy a championship.

One thing we can all agree on

Pussy is pink and titties are fun.
There was a 3-game stretch during OU's National Championship run in 2000 dubbed Red October by Sooners where they beat #11 Texas, #2 Kansas State and #1 Nebraska.

They would beat Kansas State again in the Big XII CCG though they were down to #8 by then and finished beating #3 Florida State.
They should put the names of all the portal players in a hopper and the schools put up money everytime they want to draw one, they get the player and the player gets the school's drawing fee.

Everyone abides by the results.

After a year or two of this I expect the portal will calm down a lot.
So Texas kicked Parker Livingstone to the curb to convince Cam Coleman to pick them.

Here's his farewell to UT.

"Never in a million years did I think I would be going into the portal looking for a new home. Some things are out of my control. Such is the reality of the ever-changing landscape of college football. Emptied my tank every day for this great university, my teammates, & all of the good folks of Texas. Grateful."

Doesn't sound like someone who wanted to leave.

Way to take care of your own, Sark.
. . . Buying a Championship

The New York Yankees did it many times as did other teams to a lesser extent.

The NFL went to a salary cap model with the 1994 season, currently up to $279.2 million/team.

Go back far enough I bet you will find the Romans outspent the barbarians.

Buy a championship has withstood the test of time and will continue as long as the rules allow.

Gene Hackman is dead, Brad Pitt is too pretty and Matthew McConaughey is a "no way, Jose" so idk who would play Cignetti.

The best sandwich of all, the Patty Melt using Thousand Island dressing though Russian dressing will do in a pinch.
