MAGA is a blend of moderates and conservatives making concessions to pull in moderates to have a good shot at winning.
Also, you can't pinpoint a single political point and label a political movement based off it.
If MAGA had a conservative fiscal policy but wanted open boarders, "free" healthcare, bend over and give trannies everything they want, pro-DEI, want to abolish the police, etc, something tells me you wouldn't think they're conservative.
You're right to be upset at current MAGA fiscal policy, but you're being a drama queen saying therefore its not conservative.

Trump is just transactional. He's neocon or GOPe some days, Bernie socialist others, America First populist (whatever that even is now) on others. But, he doesn't really stand for anything and so trying to defend him on principle ends up in ritual humiliation.

Because many of not most American voters are too emotional and reactionary to elect a true conservative. During DOGE many “conservatives” were aghast the few cuts he tried to implement and ICE arrests proved it even further. People not justify that Trump isn’t conservative enough so they will choose to elect Democrats instead.

You asked the question about MAGA still being conservative, I think to answer this question honestly we need a detailed definition of what a conservative is today?
