This is what you get with Massie.

His whole deal is trying to make a point.

He's not a meaningful, substantial legislator.

But, can we get this immigration package WITHOUT 5 Trillion in additional spending?

No.

It's way too much to ask given the numbers in Congress.

“conservatives” have the House, Senate, White House.

Republicans hold a razor edge margin in both chambers of Congress and many, if not most, are not fiscal conservatives. And the President is a practical man above an ideological man. These are the realities. You want better results, elect better Republicans. Until then, you take what you can get.

Not sure I understand all of this parliamentary maneuvering.

It really is sad how much shite they throw into one bill. Seriously, all this stuff should be debated and voted on separately

I see 10’s of billions of tax dollars that are going to be spent that shouldn’t have been needed. If the last administration would not have opened these borders to the illegal wolf aliens then this money could have been used directly to address the problems with the democrats own mistakes here

So this is what the Dems open border cost us? Just imagine that money going to infrastructure and the reclamation of our cities. Whatever. I assume Trump has it.

Another thing to ponder

We are getting all this immigration stuff without giving up anything to the dems

All this without having to give the open borders Dems anything to secure their votes.

No amnesty. No DACA. No “pathway to citizenship.” No trades.

The idea of “comprehensive immigration reform” is dead forever. We’re free.
good point. I didn't look at the immigration portion that way. It's a steamroller that ran over the old swayback horse the RINOs traded for.

To jdoc's point... yes, it is a start (fiscally). A slow start. A little more kick-the-can than many prefer with the growth dependency (1.8% is stupid also). But IF Congress follows through with DOGE waste/fraud and then some more a decent start.

For all of our sakes here please remember the accounting tricks. We're constantly being lied to from all angles about this bill. For example, if you 'move' $140 bbn from USAID to Immigration one side for the bill will tell you they cut $140 bbn. The side against will tell you they added $140 bbn. to the deficit in increased spending. Both sides are factually true, but it is a half-truth.

Dissent is good. I wonder if he was given anything to get the caucus to move.

not necessarily.

He held out on the vote to send to floor debate to bitch some more.

Then he'll vote yes to put on floor, at which time he will then vote no. Bitch some more.

I.e., he swapped his vote to yes to advance just so he could vote no on the actual bill.

In a perfect world yes...but with reconciliation rules (one use per fiscal year) and filibuster outside reconciliation this was the only way
