Another thing to ponder We are getting all this immigration stuff without giving up anything to the dems All this without having to give the open borders Dems anything to secure their votes. No amnesty. No DACA. No “pathway to citizenship.” No trades. The idea of “comprehensive immigration reform” is dead forever. We’re free.
I’ve said a for decade and a half the election where the Latinos pushed the Republicans to a win the Dems would turn their backs on them that same year. And here we are.

I do agree with you on this.
I’m skeptical of this bill. But at least there are permanent tax cuts and more Alligator Alcatrazes.

So the cost of yard work, housework and farm labor is about to skyrocket
Now, I think he means it and will follow through. But that's why he brought it up now.

Sorry not sorry you don’t get to use slaves anymore

Well, I guess you don’t get to pay slave wages anymore.
Go hire an an American worker and if you can’t afford that, pay a teenager to cut your grass.

Why?
I used to have local labor and it was bad- unreliable, sloppy and expensive.
I have several groups of willing workers who might or might not be legal and they work damn hard and always show up.

So you are a plantation owner. Congrats on contributing to the slave trade. I glad you are going to have to pay more for labor. Maybe do a better job of vetting workers and setting expectations

With all of this money earmarked for the border, perhaps this is a good time to remind everyone that Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan refused to approve 5 billion to build the wall at the southern border.

Spending $70-$90 billion on DHS-ICE-CBP sure does seem excessive on the surface. However, we give almost that much every year to Ukraine, to USAID for foreign “aid”, to illegals in the form of education, healthcare, housing, etc.
If this money is needed to logistically deport 10 million people (or 20 million long term) then it will pay for itself.
I wasn’t a fan of the inflated amounts compared to the 2019 numbers but it be what it be. If we don’t fix it now we will spend $100+ billion in 2026 on illegals alone and the long term cost will be our country itself.

Kinzinger just had a huge melt over this. See GumboPot's thread.

But, can we get this immigration package WITHOUT 5 Trillion in additional spending?
I know most of you are well meaning useful idiots who just parrot what you saw on X or a John Barron post.
But the current version of this bill cuts $1.4 trillion in spending on Medicaid and SNAP, increases spending by around $300 billion, for a net spending cut of about a trillion.
The “muh trillions to national debt” is CBO juking the stats as related to the “tax cuts” which are already baked into the economy. That money isn’t actually being “spent” because it was never collected in the first place. It is a shell game Congress plays to make their “budgets” appear clean or dirty depending on if Trump is in the White House.
The only people who care about CBO are autistic cucks who need something to melt about this week because their melt from last week never materialized.

All this and I bet Trump gives some kind of amnesty to certain illegals in the farming, hospitality and construction industries before he leaves office. The construction industry is cooked already. It's almost non existent.

Over how many years?
And when do the cuts begin to take place?
If you answered “10 years” and “not this year,” you are correct.

How is Massie's hypocrisy devastating to MAGA supporters? We were right about Massie, and all you "principled" folks were fooled again.
