Serious question: when you take the time to actually dig up a statute in question and explain your interpretation of it, do you EVER get thanked for that? Not so much for approbation, but just acknowledgement of the attempt at intellectual honesty?
That depends. Sometimes people ask and it's provided in generally gets good reception. Sometimes it's posted to pop bubbles and people do their typical melt. That happened last night in the Adam's Schiff thread. I pointed out to their fantasies of prosecution was basically impossible due to the statute of limitations and then they said I was defending his actions. What you'd expect.

I'm not looking for agreement on this board. I enjoy honest, good faith disagreement. Maybe I’m wrong? Instead, I mostly get personal attacks for wrongthink without any ACTUAL discussion.
It didn't used to be this way. But things changed in 2016 and then really changed in 2019. The demographics of the board changed severely in a lot of political neophytes who only know what they're told online joined. And then you just had the typical eradication of intellectually honest discussion due to group think pressure and in-out group dynamics

Garcia had a final order of removal due to his ms13 ties.
You ARE addled. No one disputes that. Also, no one under oath disputes that Abrego Garcia was legally prohibited from being deported to El Salvador.

"the administration"?
who is the person who 'said' that????
It is more likely this is another one of the media/democrat propaganda party made up 'statements' they like to toss out.
in the same bucket with "they gonna throw grandma off the cliff"

Are you addled? Your inane recitation of the text of 8 USC 1231 is irrelevant. Everyone with a law degree who has taken a position under oath or threat of sanctions under FRCP 11 on this matter agrees that it was a violation of the law to deport Abrego Garcia to El Salvador. EVERY judge or justice (of whatever party) has agreed that it was illegal.
You expect an honest conversation but you can’t be honest.
You can’t even answer if you read the law or not.
He wasn’t mistakenly deported. No one said he was mistakenly deported. That is another lie you are telling.
He had an order of removal. A judge found him to be a member of ms13.
A mistake would be deporting the wrong guy. They deported the right guy.

Much appreciated. That makes sense. I will calibrate accordingly. Not really worth the heavy lifting of digging up statutes or case law.

Everyone one else woke up to that news 2 days ago or no later than 24 hours ago.
You might be the e only one waking up to that news today.

You and SFP are defending MS13 members
You are masking it by "digging up statutes"

Despite all the spin, Abrego Garcia was mistakenly deported to El Salvador. Here's the SWORN affidavit of the Field Director of ICE were he accurately described the deportation to El Salvador as a mistake.

If you don't answer this, I will assume you are a pathetic coward. Was the ICE Field Director "defending MS 13 members" when he swore under oath that Abrego Garcia was legally protected from removal to El Salvador?

Here’s a couple of pretty interesting questions for you, and perhaps they could help clarify your position. I guess take em or leave em.
1) What do you propose should happen with the guy as of this time;
2) What “response” or “penalty” should be directed at the Trump admin, coming from whom?

Thanks for the questions.
1) The Trump Administration beat the law by removing Abrego Garcia outside the jurisdiction of US Courts before litigation was initiated. So, his legal status is determined exclusively by the jurisdiction in which he is located: El Salvador.
2) No penalty should be imposed on anyone in the Trump Administration. They side stepped the law fair and square. The power of the Presidency is awesome. I hope AOC never aquires it.
