Nobody says it’s the only solution. It’s just an option, but a pretty obvious one given the original “promise” was to fund retirement for people for less than (an average of) 5 years. Not the 15 it’s doing now.

No it is not. Trump has said he will not raise the age or change the equation. He has repeatedly said he will not touch Social Security. That is why many are speculating he will raise taxes. He has pushed himself into a corner.
