For real, China could probably kill a lot of Americans by cutting off our medicines.

I disagree. Since Trump was sworn back into office, I've seen nothing but a sharp uptick in the manufacturing of guesses, particularly from the TDS crowd. They manufacture guesses and then manufacture secondary and tertiary guesses to bolster the original guess.
It's like watching XiNN but real life. Very fascinating.

The mixed messaging on the calculations was one thing but now a pause to negotiate everyone down to zero (which seems to be the real goal) does nothing for job creation in America.
If markets you had trouble selling to are now open, like autos to europe, you would need to make more cars to sell.
And while trump and others have been on the bring jobs back train, overall public sentiment of that changed during covid.
A lot of people noticed we need to make more of our own stuff.

Wow, props to you for (somewhat) actually admitting Trump fricked up (and is a frick up).
Congrats, and welcome to the world of reality.

I have always called Trump out when I disagree with something
I still support him but I am not a bot or blind supporter

Trump has made me money because pussies pulled out of the market.

They already did.
It's called fentanyl and covid.
We've been at war with China.

Congrats to you for at least asking some questions.

If you’re talking about the “reciprocal tariffs” it was a lie. Just call it what it was.

Correct. This is why we’ve had so many different talking points along the way.

A win is a win I guess but I am willing to admit the admin really bungled the messaging of stated goals.
It was a mess and the business community has reacted in an expected manner.

What about replacing income tax with tariffs?
That wasn’t ever going to happen.

The "Refi" theory may have exploded and they're now pivoting in real time to adjust to the rates going the wrong way.
Nah, this was not even possible. This was just some Shiite that a few influencers made up to sound smart, and to make it appear that there was some real 4-d chess going on when there wasn't.

PT is starting to sound like The Rant.
"Yeah, we won, but what about that sweep to the short side of the field?!!!"
Enjoy where we are. A historical chance to improve global trade and along the way I bet he uses this leverage to get deals in a bunch of other areas.
Will manufacturing come back? Some, but never like we had before. But, can we improve it? I think so.
Income tax always seemed to be a tangential proposition. I always felt he used it to have other countries think he was serious about getting to the negotiating table, which is one thing he said he wanted.

We still have a 10% tariff on countries and the huge one on China. The only 90 day pause was for the "reciprocal" tariffs. Maybe let's wait to see what happens.

Lower costs on American goods sold overseas is not a positive for making more and selling more American goods?
Posted on 4/9/25 at 2:35 pm to stout
Yeah, you sure aren't getting the ERS to replace the IRS

We need big, permanent tariffs to "bring manufacturing back"
stout is saying that this pause and the "focus on China" approach signals that the admin is not serious at all about the path it would take to bring it home.

Slow just seriously made basically this exact argument.

I’m with you. I don’t know how anyone looks at this and sees a coherent plan.
