What good is 125% on China considering it is short term like every other tariff they implemented?

You tell me, genius. Even if it is negotiated down to 80%, you still don't see the benefit?
Why do you choose to be stupid?

I think the idea is negotiating down tariffs and bringing back some manufacturing. Obviously we aren't bring back all manufacturing
MGT just said American factories would be full. Then gamed the stock market before Trump announced across the board tariffs.
Wake up people.

How many idiotic threads are you going to start on tariffs? “How dare Trump try to fix our anemic economic growth and revitalize American manufacturing?” And, “since I don’t understand it then it must not be working”. That is essentially the argument you and several others have repeatedly made over the last few weeks. We are 30 trillion dollars in debt and on pace to accrue much more in the next several years. Government spending aided economic growth is limited in its growth potential to around 2-4 percent but so many Americans believe 3% growth is actually good because that is what we have been led to believe is a healthy economy. The reality is our economy is barely outpacing inflation if at all. We cannot cut enough spending alone at this point to pay off the debt and we cannot tax our way out of it. It will take a combination of tax increases, cutting spending, and increasing economic growth. That cannot be achieved without correcting some of the idiotic trade agreements we foolishly signed and it cannot happen without expanding economic activity. Some of you bitch and moan 24/7 about tariffs and cutting spending under the guise of conservatism to the point where it’s obvious that you don’t believe we are in trouble economically. If you truly believed it, then you would support the only president in the last 50 years who has attempted to do anything about it other than empty words

Do you think China and Trump are going to let 80% tariffs remain in place for any length of time?
Are you in the market for some oceanfront property? I have some for sale if so.

It’s a bargaining chip. And it does leave the door open for the Fair Tax.

Got news for you...
I didn't read the rest of your rant. Sorry

Lol, he just got 10% tariff on every country while he pauses for 90 days. Let's see maybe 300 billion
. Not only that he looks merciful by giving 90 days

high regulations
This is huge and is something else we were told they would fix
The problem is that he can't fix it permanently. No one is going to finance a multi-billion-dollar refinery or factory that takes two years to build and face a potential hostile environment after the 2028 election. Any regulation that Trump suspends, or revokes can be easily reinstated by the next administration. This was about trade deals. The return of the golden age of American manufacturing was and is a pipe dream. That was a little propaganda to help sell his plan. That's politics.

Sigh.
Trump worked Mar-a-lago to the bone before he stepped into the Oval Office again. He and his team went out and got commitments for the jobs and the factories...$5 trillion worth in new investment.
The US has the cards now. They have the jobs and the factories. Now we have more leverage on better trade deals. Those can be better negotiated now.

This. They all know you can't throw up factories in days.

I didn’t realize you were privy to all such discussions. My senator and house rep have both mentioned it.

Being more competitive on exports is necessary to bringing manufacturing jobs back over here.

Can anyone explain how this purported goal (that was THE goal all the time, promise), is better for "main street"?
