That should run just a few more trillion. LOL, say like $20T. Pretty soon you can forget about raising taxes to say 80% on everybody and just start grabbing bank and savings accounts and property. But hell it all belongs to the state anyway which means us citizens. We'll all be pecking shite with the chickens on Kamela and Ocasio's co-ops while they ride through and check on the help occasionally.

I read through the resolution itself and you're not lying. Theres a section on "How will you pay for this" and their solution is basically.. "the Fed and newly created public banks can extend credit." Ohhh. Well if you buy on credit, I guess it's paid for. No worries.

This is what happens when politicians with now business background and have never been held accountable to BALANCE A BUDGET, run the government.

Any major corportation to a small Mom/pops business would have gone bankrupt and liquidated years ago with these idiots at the helm.

All they know is to implement ridiculous bills/regs and not worry about cost bc they have an unlimited Line of Credit!

This is very ambitious--very excited that senator Markey is introducing this in the Senate!

Although it's just an outline it's a huge step forward to move the conversation in the right direction. The National Climate Assessment issued late last year gives us a decade to turn things around. With climate change we can expect less food, less water, more extreme weather events, and national crises constantly.

On top of that were seeing the insect population plummet which means less food for other animals which means less animals in general. We are in deep trouble and have to act quickly to save ourselves. There can't really be anymore waiting and frankly it doesn't matter if you think we can transition to all clean energy in a decade--we have to shoot for it because even if it takes longer the 10 year goal will still allow us to do it much faster than setting a 30 year goal. Humans are notorious for letting deadlines lapse and falling a bit short so whatever timeframes we set it will be longer than that. But setting the goal at 10 years let's people know this is it. People need to realize this is for all the marbles. If we can't solve this we might go extinct. We can't live without the earth and its other forms of life. There's no planet B. So we have to do this.

And we can't worry about what other countries are doing. We are America. We have always done what we think is in our best interest regardless of what others are doing. It's just like at a job where your boss says dont worry about Tim or Gary worry about yourself.

As for the economy, there are tremendous costs yes but the alternative as I said is much worse and we dont have time to do this slowly. That time has run out bc so many people haven't taken the threat seriously. It's like if you wait until 50 to start dieting and exercising, moderation isn't enough. As hilarious as this is, it is terrifying that something this ridiculous is even taken remotely seriously by a substantial portion of our population. We are full of lazy, coddled morons.

It takes 10 years to pave a road in your neighbor.

But we’re going to build high speed rail systems across the entire country and completely phase out planes in 10 years?

Not fricking possible

It would be a great addition to the BR Interstate Loop.

They can’t finish one lane on I-12 in a decade...even if this past tomorrow and had universal support you couldn’t get it built by 2029.

One argument is convenience/time saved without dealing with TSA at the airport.

So I guess trains aren't vulnerable? Imagine securing thousands of miles of track when high-speed trains are the target de jour.

I missed the science in all that rambling.

Too bad we are in a cooling period and climate change is the most generic label possible.

Climate us always changing and there is no fricking way possible to have enough empirical data to prove humans and animals have caused the damn climate change to the point of destroying the earth .. in 12 years!!!

Don't get me wrong, we have caused some changed that are short term such as here in Louisiana with run offs and the coast, but that us far different than the entire world ending because of green house gasses

shite is a religion.

Until China and India do something about their pollution I'm perfectly happy not changing a damn thing about how we live our lives.

It goes without saying this just isn't even remotely feasible. And even if it was, Americans would still choose flights over rail.

So dump billions or trillions of tons of C02 into the atmosphere to build a non existent infrastructure to alleviate the pollution problem

Don't worry about air travel or any travel.

Americans will be to poor to travel.
