What is it about high speed rail that libs love so much?
(Been hearing about this for years)
Also, isn’t the high speed rail system in Cali a failure before its finished construction?

Europe has it, and that's their model for, well, everything.

We should just stop using coal powered planes.

Don't forget that the green new deal also includes guaranteed jobs for all and "upgrading all existing buildings" in the country for energy efficiency. Seems completely reasonable

Maybe Trump should call it an elevated rail instead of wall.

The left has lost their fricking minds. They are gonna get blown out in 2020 at their current trajectory.
Late term and post birth abortion brought to the forefront, and now AOC as their defacto leader. With the momentum they gained in the midterms, all they had to do was not frick it up. Yet here we are.

This is very ambitious--very excited that senator Markey is introducing this in the Senate!
Although it's just an outline it's a huge step forward to move the conversation in the right direction. The National Climate Assessment issued late last year gives us a decade to turn things around. With climate change we can expect less food, less water, more extreme weather events, and national crises constantly.
On top of that were seeing the insect population plummet which means less food for other animals which means less animals in general. We are in deep trouble and have to act quickly to save ourselves. There can't really be anymore waiting and frankly it doesn't matter if you think we can transition to all clean energy in a decade--we have to shoot for it because even if it takes longer the 10 year goal will still allow us to do it much faster than setting a 30 year goal. Humans are notorious for letting deadlines lapse and falling a bit short so whatever timeframes we set it will be longer than that. But setting the goal at 10 years let's people know this is it. People need to realize this is for all the marbles. If we can't solve this we might go extinct. We can't live without the earth and its other forms of life. There's no planet B. So we have to do this.
And we can't worry about what other countries are doing. We are America. We have always done what we think is in our best interest regardless of what others are doing. It's just like at a job where your boss says dont worry about Tim or Gary worry about yourself.
As for the economy, there are tremendous costs yes but the alternative as I said is much worse and we dont have time to do this slowly. That time has run out bc so many people haven't taken the threat seriously. It's like if you wait until 50 to start dieting and exercising, moderation isn't enough. You have to go all in to save your life. And in the end there will be an entirely new economy built on this. It's worth it to save ourselves and transition into the economy if the future. If trump supporters think it's okay for people to suffer for a damn wall we can sure as shite do it to save the planet
Holy hell, you really are not being sarcastic are you?

Wow. That won’t cost anything.
High speed rail won’t “pollute” the planet either. Especially if it is solar high speed rail.
AOC needs to keep talking. Pull your party further left.

Who wants this and or needs this?
Not me. We are a large enough country that we NEED flights rails could benefit some urban areas but not a businessman who has to go from Atlanta to St. Louis or Memphis or Dallas.

That's f&%king stupid. It doesn't need to be a trains OR flights, it needs to be both. High speed rail access between cities relatively close to one-another (such as in the Northeast, Midwest, Texas Triangle, or the Pacific Coast, would be outstanding while still having air travel available for cross-country flights and to connect smaller cities not along the main high speed rail corridors.
What I would envision is starting out with a few principle markets:
1. San Diego, LA, San Francisco
2. San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, Houston
3. Boston, New York City, Philidelphia, Baltimore, D.C., Richmond
The next phase would be extending those networks:
1. add Sacramento, Portland, and Seattle
2. Houston to Baton Rouge & NOLA
3. an East/West route that connects Los Angeles to Las Vegas, Denver, Kansas City, St. Louis, Nashville, and Charlotte before turning north and connecting with the line from Richmond to Boston.
Phase 3
1. Create a Midwest network that connects Chicago, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Cincinnatti, Columbus, Cleveland, Pittsburg, Detroit
2. Create a north/south line that connects Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, St. Louis, Memphis, Jackson, and New Orleans.
3. Southeast route that connects New Orleans, Mobile, Birmingham, Atlanta, and Charlotte
4. An East Coast line that goes from Charlotte to Charleston, Savannah, Jacksonville, Orlando, and Miami.
Phase 4
1. A spur from Mobile to Tallahassee and Jacksonville.
2. A spur from Pittsburg to D.C.
3. line following I-10 connecting San Antonio to El Paso, Tucson, Phoenix, and San Diego.
4. spur connecting Dallas, OKC, and Kansas City.
5. Spur connecting Mobile, Birmingham, Nashville, Louisville, Indianapolis, and Detroit

I read through the resolution itself and you're not lying. Theres a section on "How will you pay for this" and their solution is basically..
"the Fed and newly created public banks can extend credit."
Ohhh. Well if you buy on credit, I guess it's paid for. No worries.
