Forget Canada, will Cuba be the 51st state?

I personally like an even number state wise but I wouldn’t mind making them a colony or protectorate like Puerto Rico or Guam.

Cuba will be more like the Philippines. We sorta run them as a territory for a while but then spin them off as an independent country with a U.S. aligned government that lets us do whatever we want economically without triggering another mass migration to the mainland from Cuba.

Canada will be broken into at least 4 pieces:
Western Canada and Ontario will each become states.
Quebec will be allowed to become nominally independent, but still be a part of a common economic market.
The Maritimes will be territories like Puerto Rico as will the northern Territories, Yukon, and Nunavut.

No.

Following the end of Trump’s second term … he relocates to Cuba, becomes El Jefe, and implements a no extradition policy. Thus denying the Dems prayers.

Cuba becomes the next great tourist destination and Trump develops some absolutely beautiful resorts in Cuba while the island’s redeveloped economy revitalizes Cuban life. Paradise…

Like an effing boss

I would support anything to help improve and upgrade that place. It is so close to the US it makes sense. Maybe more Cubans would stay there. We could get quality cigars. Would be a nice vacation spot.

It's just another Puerto Rico waiting to be taken care of and suck off the welfare.

No.

I read a lot of Jack London growing up. I was devastated when I eventually learned the Yukon didn’t belong to the US.

It would close a long-standing disappointment in my childhood brain if we just went ahead and took it.

What is sparking this conversation? Did something huge happen in Cuba today?

Would be even worse than Puerto Rico.

No finger will be lifted to work while siesta is in effect.

Cuba would be an economic gold mine if opened to capitalism.

The only issue is the mind set of the citizens who’ve been oppressed for >60 years. Eastern Europe suffers from some of that.

This again? I guess this is the PT board’s version of SECRants topics on SEC expansion and conference realignment.

Why the frick would we want that?

Cuba is a shithole that would be an even larger drag on our country than Puerto Rico is.

It would be mutually beneficial. Better for them than for the US. Developers would build beachside hotels and casino's. If Cuba were a state we could have a military base, not only increase national security but also a great position to monitor drug boats, planes flying those routes.

The improvement upon the Cuban people would be staggering.
If it could get done under Trump...... probably sway Cubans to vote Republican.

I can't think of any negatives.
