Ah yes because we can only survive if we embrace Christianity. Hey maybe we should go back to Manifest Destiny or start another Crusade

This country was founded on the idea that religion has no place in government. It was so important, it was addressed first.

This nation was founded on the idea that there be no organized state religion.

We the people, claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.

Seems the founding fathers had a different view of things.

founding fathers quotes

My personal favorite is from the treaty of tripoli:

quote:

The Government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion.”
~1797 Treaty of Tripoli signed by Founding Father John Adams

So 247 million out of 321 million identify as Christian. That 2/3 of our population. Seems to be a Christian nation if you believe in statistics. And with the last 8 years behind us a new day has dawned for those that adhere to Christian principles. Expect more knocks on your doors folks.

Anyone pushing their philosophy as "truth" is annoying as hell. The whole lot of em are two sides of the same coin.

Whatever works for a guy, more power to him.

Exactly. Both sides preach dogmatically. I think its funny that atheists consider themselves exempt from dogmatism simply because they don't speak from a religious doctrine.

Religious people actively trying to force their religion down people's throats is far worse

I have never seen anyone here actively trying to convert someone here.

Do you hang out in the parking lot of those door to door annoying churches or something?

They are indeed annoying.

I'm actually OK with a moral foundation for the country. That's all fine and good with me.

I just don't like the govt over reach into social issues using religion as the basis.

The dispensations in time from genesis to revelations in the bible is what God set in place for a free nation.

This nation was founded on those principles but nothing new under the sun is slowly happening, Mans sin is taking over.

Find a nation that has some freedom of religion and there will be some freedoms.

Find a nation that doesn't allow Christianity and there will be no freedom.

Man has never had a system that will allow a nation to be free simply because he thinks his way is best and if you don't agree you're wrong and in the way of progress.

The real joke is that evangelicals hold Trump up as their guy. Think about that for a moment.

Face it, white Christianity will continue it's decline in this country.

The Crusades rescued people enslaved under Islamic occupation. The fact that we stand by while Christians are being slaughtered in the Middle East does not make us better or more enlightened than the Crusaders.

I don't believe in God, I'm also a republican.

Democracies should not promote a particular religion. It's not in the definition. That said I understand that all of these ceremonies are deeply rooted in tradition so it doesn't bother me like some of these other clowns.
