It’s a wonderful book. I’ve read it 3 or 4 times now and it’s just as good every time, though it is a bit of a time investment.

That said, I don’t believe it is our place to get revenge on others. God’s vengeance upon the ungodly will be far worse than anything we can do anyway.

Agreed. Revenge is based on hatred and unforgivness. However, justice and retribution are completely different concepts. If we are to go forward and resolve many of our problems, justice and retribution wil HAVE to be served.

Fun fact. Alexandre Dumas, the author, was the son of a Haitian slave and a Frenchman.

This is true in a biblical sense.

However the Bible doesn’t require us not to apply justice to those who break the law or hurt others.

It limits somewhat that punishment should be in the New Testament but applying judicial consequences is required in a world of evil to prevent future acts of harm to others.

In this case until there are consequences our opponents will continue to do us harm because they do not fear any blow back for doing so.

It’s not a page turner either. Good book, great story, but a bit of a slog.

Depends on what translation you get. I read the Penguin version and I thought it moved pretty well for such a long book. Then I tried to read the Barnes and Noble version with a different translation. Way worse.

It's point is not what the OP thinks it is. Dantes almost let's the need for revenge consume him. He's brought to the edge of almost having to dig the two holes.
