Depends on what translation you get. I read the Penguin version and I thought it moved pretty well for such a long book. Then I tried to read the Barnes and Noble version with a different translation. Way worse.

Why not just field your 9 best on defense then have your nine best hitters on offense? Like football.

I felt like the energy and competitiveness were amazing. It seemed like the US really cared about winning. But baseball just isn’t built for a single elimination tournament format. That’s why the worst team in the league beats the best team at times. Bats go cold for a day, or even a week. I think you enjoy the games for what they are, exciting and fun. But don’t expect the tournament to name the country that’s best at baseball. Sample size is too small. In a 7 game series I think team USA wins 4-2.

If all these diseases can be linked to our nutrition, big pharma and big hospitals would be out of a lot of money.

Would like to do research on this topic. How does one go about finding one of these?

The first part is good, but in my opinion it slows down and becomes tough to stick with. If you’re looking for a long book, try The Count of Monte Cristo. Different than the movie in certain ways, so if you’ve seen the movie, go into the book like it’s a separate story. If a 1200 page book can be a page turner, this one is. I’m on my third reading of it. I tell myself there’s too much out there to read a giant book that many times, but it’s too good.

Yes, all of those things influence arm injuries. One big factor is that a lot of kids don’t throw enough. They pitch a lot, but they don’t throw in between. So the only throws they’re making are high intensity without building strength. They show up at tournaments on the weekend and throw max effort, and that puts big strain on weak arms. Historically, pitch counts have been way higher than they are now, yet arm injuries are through the roof where they were fairly rare before.
