Ever since my catholic buddies went to those conventions they’ve been acting more and more like my jehovas witness cousins.

That's the TD Political Talk board.
We don't talk about Politics here anymore. It's a We Hate Catholics Board now.

First off: There’s a billion of us. Good luck.
Prots can’t agree on anything other than they don’t like Catholics.
I hear more about the Pope and whatever comes out of the Vatican from Protestants than anyone. I personally don’t pay a lot of attention to what the Pope says because I know exactly where we stand on anything before it becomes politicized.

Social media is not reality. Young Catholics are becoming more conservative. Christians of all denominations are less divided than the past

To be honest, this thread is very disappointing. We are all brothers in Christ and should focus more on the things that we have in common than the things that separate us and make us different.

Agreed, the mainline Protestants have many problems, far left Catholics have many problems.
We can point out the shite in each other's eyes after we clean ours.
No branch of Christianity is without problems. Not until Christ returns. Then he will separate the sheep from the goats, the wheat from the chaff.
Until then we are going to have problems, just like Paul warned.

I recommend anyone interested in this topic - pick up a copy of Pop Prophecy. It covers just about everything Dispensationalism, Zionism, the Scofield Reference Bible, the "pre-tribulation rapture", Israel, etc...
It lays out very clearly how all of the above mentioned topics have been twisted in order to create and fit a narrative that is pushed out to well intentioned, good people. Filled with citations and sources (one of those books that you'll want to tab and highlight in). The book cost me about $10

And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
“this rock”… what rock is Jesus referring to? Any person with a brain would understand the “rock” referred to is Thou art Christ, the Son of the living God. That’s the rock in this passage. Jesus’s entire ministry was a who ministry. He constantly as who do you say I am. Who am I? You do you think I am? Etc. In Jesus’s earthy ministry he himself says he only came for the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Luckily for us Gentiles, Acts is transitional book from The Who gospel to the What gospel. If Peter is the head of the “church” then why did receive correction from Paul. Was Peter less infallible then Pope’s of years in the future?
Paul’s gospel which means good news says in 1 Cor. 15 v 1-4…
Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
How did Peter “the Rock” not understand this?
Also I’m tired of hearing from Millie mouthed Catholics from some Roman early “church expert” what was intended in the scripture 300 years after Christ resurrection. How is that more valid the vast information available to today’s Christians. That has much more accessible information and ability to cross reference scripture and let scripture interpret scripture.
Poor Catholics the Protestants just bad mouth you guys in 2026. For hundreds of years literally around 1500 years any person that strayed from the Catholic teachings was a considered a heretic and executed. 100’s of thousands of Christians murdered by what Catholics call the Church established by Christ.
And to tie the history and historical record into it why call yourself the Roman Catholic Church. Didn’t Rome execute our Messiah, our Savior, our God. Why not follow what the early Christians calls themselves. The Way.
I’ll let Catholic and orthodox argue over who the true church is because I know and it’s not a denomination. They are arguing over the paganism from either Rome or Greece. I will follow the true church which is the body of Christ which includes all saved and sanctified human that through faith is saved according to the gospel found in 1 Cor. 15 v 1-4.
The politic of the RCC is one of the most brutal regimes in all history of humanity with mass killing of others human they considered heretics.
I will continue to pray for you denomination worshipers.

Here's my take. Anybody placing their faith in the teachings of a denomination over having a true relationship with Jesus probably does not know Him. A denomination does not matter. What matters is believing in Jesus and placing your faith in what he did for you. There are people from all denominations that are going to heaven when they die, not because of their denomination, but because they have believed in the only one that can save them. There are many people in denominations that teach bad doctrine but they have believed the truth in spite of it and for whatever reason (family, tradition, laziness) etc. they stay in that denomination even when they know what is being taught doesn't line up with scripture.
As I stated earlier, everyone needs to believe and be saved. Stop placing your faith in man made rules and doctrines and believe unto everlasting life. Jesus loves you and died for you and he only wants you to believe that he did that for you. God bless.

Many are going to Catholicism because they see a long history there. Many are going to the Orthodox churches for the same reason.
My Reformed Presbyterian congregation has been blessed with substantial growth over the last year, with many young singles joining due to our focus on doctrine, simple worship, and historical ties to the Reformation, which was actually a reform to the apostolic era.
The younger generation is looking for something of substance to hang its hat on, and many are getting tired of mega churches that spring up 5 minutes ago and don’t take worship seriously, among other things.

quote:We agree on a lot more than you give us credit for. Many of the denominations, or even the independent non-denominational churches, are disaffiliated from one another but share more in common than different Catholic parishes do, but lack the organizational unity of Rome.
Prots can’t agree on anything other than they don’t like Catholics.
For example, there are Catholic parishes that prefer a traditionally Latin mass while some having the mass in English. That difference alone would cause an organizational split in Protestantism, even if ensuring else is the same. The same thing for the continuation of the sign-gifts. There are Catholic parishes that emphasize speaking in tongues and such while most don’t. That alone led to splits in Protestant churches at the turn of the 20th century with charismatic churches starting to spring up.
So yeah, there is a lack of formal unity in Protestantism, but there is a lot of informal unity of belief in the core doctrines of the faith (the Trinity, the gospel, and the resurrection of the dead). Many of the disagreements are minor (with some major disagreements to be sure), and some of those minor disagreements exist even in Catholicism, bit because of the organizational affiliation, it seems there is more unity there.
